Good info, but...
we should not have to do this on $10,000 snowmobiles.
But if this is the only problem I have to deal with on a sled, then that's pretty good.

I think you guys should really ride the sled first to see what happens with this, before doing anything like that.

Once the bushings are slightly worn, the grease will not leak the wrong way.

I agree with Rotax and LB make sure there is a problem first.

I cant comment on the fix,
but these new skids at the very least have some lube on them for assembly.
And everything is so tight that if you try to grease them befor you get 100-200 miles on them you may be doing more harm than good.

Stopped & talked to my dealer at lunchtime - verified that my new red Attack is sitting in one of the 70 Yamaha crates he has in his yard. He'll start putting them together in a week or so when he's through winterizing all the jetskis (It's a marina / Yamaha / Skidoo dealer).
Without me mentioning, he told me that there's a problem with the grease zerks on the Yamaha sleds. Both leaking grease and actually pulling out and staying in the grease gun. He's going to pull them out & replace with threaded fittings before he delivers the sleds to the customers. Not sure if he heard this from Yamaha or somewhere else.

First thing I do is go over entire sled. Got an Attak. I had two bad zerks(apparently welded on one side, which pulled the zerk out of the untapped hole, where the grease then escapes). Did the JB weld fix just to get the grease where it goes. Had dealer order in the new parts. Also found broken clip on lower half of air box, and not on all carbs.

If its staying in the grease gun, then its because there is NOWHERE FOR IT TO GO, which means that the bushings need to wear very slightly in order for air/grease to escape to relieve the pressure. This confirms that there is NO PROBLEM with them.

LB I think he meant the Fitting broke off in the tip of the GUN.

Yes that is the way I read it too!

i broke one off on a 97 Vmax. Here is how it happened. Had the gun on the nipple and it slipped out of my hand. The torque of the lever action broke off the fitting.
In the 60-100? greasings since then, never broke another one.
Thought on threaded zerks.
Even with the slight taper of a bottoming tap. The tap could hit the bushing before the threads cut deep enough.
Also a threaded nipple could screw into the bushing thus binding depending on how thick of a wall that tubing has.
Taking it all apart you can avoid all this if it indeed is a problem, but that is a lot of work.

There IS a problem with the grease fittings. When I greased my Attak for the 1st time the grease went in just fine with very little pressure on the gun but it also was leaking out all around the grease fittings. I wasn't a case of to much pressure and the grease was getting into the suspension just fine but alot was just plain leaking around a great big crack 3/4 around the fitting. If you look close you will see the gap, it's very noticeable. You will still be able to grease the suspension just fine as it is but it's going to be a mess and take more grease. I fixes mine just like sx7001 with a 2 part loctite I got from our excavating company. It's like JB weld but Industrial. I fixed mine because it just plain bugged me. No big deal and now it's 100 % fixed NO LEAKS

Thats not conclusive. A grease gun makes THOUSANDS of PSI pressure effortlessly.

I think I can tell when there is to much pressure on a grease fitting or joint. We run a 5 gallon pail of grease every 2 weeks through just about every kind of grease fitting and joint in our business. The fittings leak with hardly any pressure at all.
