Finally have some time to install my zx2 into my 03 rx1 and it aint going good. I measured the rear mount points and they end up on the bend in the tunnel/foot boards. The verticle measurement was from the lowest point in my tunnel which was the botton of my tunnel protectors and it was using the minimum clearence of 1/4". If I remove my tunnel protectors I can gain 7/8" which may give me enough room. I don't have studs in my track so would it be ok to remove the tunnel protectors. I have tried calling AD Boivin but all I got was an answering machine.

Well I realy hope this suspenssion is worth it because I am going ahaead and removing the tunnel protectors and that is going to be alot of work. Looks like I will have to remove the seat, muffler and gas tank, which is going to be a real pain in the a$$. Nothing is easy in my world #$^&%$#@.

Took a few more "double" measurements before going through all the work of removing the tunnel protectors. It looks like all I will be able to gain with the removal is 3/4" which is exactly borderline with the min clearance and that would be to my exhaust which I'm not too sure I realy want. The only thing that I could see that would help me out is to go to a smaller lug track from the 1.75" that I have and I realy don't want to do that. Going to smaller drivers is out of the question because that will put the mount points further back where there is less tunnel height. Been calling ad boivin all day with no sucsess. Starting to second guess if this instalation is the way to go. Someone must have come across these problems before. This is extremly frustrating and disapointing. Who knows I may have a next to brand new zx2 skid for sale!!!

I dont have any helpful tips for you, but I can say that it'll be worth it in the end!

Do you have the universal install kit, or are you trying to bolt the skid directly to your tunnel? The apex has a kit that comes with a plate that the skid actually bolts to which has the mounting points.

Pix would be helpful. Hang in there man!

Well I finally got it installed. It realy wasn't that bad once I had everything figured out what I was going to do. The skid is a used one from a polaris 700 so it came with everything to install it except the mounting plates. It only has 300 miles on it. The only way to tell that it is used is the the old locktite on the bolts and I saved $300. I remounted the stock rx1 rear mounts and fabricated some new front mounts. It will be alot stronger that the plates that would have come with the kit. I took some pictures of the process that I did, once I get them loaded onto my computer I will post them here.
I took it for a small spin and I like realy like the way it feels. It put more pressure on my skis wich is good because I was wanting more. It definatly sits higher so I was concerned about the sled being more tippy, but it seem ok. time will tell. I just have to figure out how to adjust it for my weight and agressive riding style.
