NEW 09 unveiled online FRIDAY OVERNIGHT at 3am!

I think some of you guys are going to be disappointed! I would love to see a new light weight 170hp sled, but it probably won't happen. When was the last time you saw a 20hp increase in the flagship model from Yamaha. You may see a new motor introduced with a bit more power, but not 20hp. My...

    spark plug replacement procedure?

Thanks, Allen. Any suggestions on how to get the plug covers off. I think they are welded in there. I don't want to pull too hard and damage them.

    spark plug replacement procedure?

Does anyone have a step by step procedure to access the spark plugs. I checked with the Dealer, they went through the shop manual, but didn't find anything. I'm assuming you still have to dismantle half the sled (like the Apex) to access them. At least I can see the plug locations on this sled...

    Ready to rock!

I used Mothers metal and aluminum polish on the tunnel. it's very easy to use, but the running boards are bitch to clean with all the grip treads. The windshield is the stock chrome , but maybe it should be black??? Bounty, you must be a Rum drinker too, to pick up on the pepsi cans...

Pioneer is out of kits for the season. Is there any other aftermarket companies that make these???

    Apex wide front end kit

This past weekend, I hit a big phantom rock (covered by 6" of light snow) and drove the left side of my front a-arm assembly back about 3". It didn't break any welds, but it bent the arms and gussets enough to give me, let's just say , a little alignment problem. Instead of buying a stock left...

    lost speed apexgt

Snow conditions for sure! This weekend, I started out on good trails (freshly groomed and well set up after a cold night) I saw 118mph on the DM. Later in the day after alot of traffic and softer trails, I only saw 108mph. On a hard packed plowed road I have seen 128mph, so conditions are...

Anybody find any new Idler wheels yet for apex

I picked up 6 new '05 wheels for my GT today. My dealer said that Yamaha has been instructed to replace the '06 wheels with the '05 wheels for a temporary fix. When a solution comes up (probably next year?), Yamaha will issue a recall and replace the wheels. The '05 wheels are hard plastic and...

    I think I'm reving a little high?

The conditions are plowed, hard-packed roads with about an inch of fresh powder on them. I'm studded with 144 megabites. As far as break-in, I washed my belt; warmed up the sled for 15 min. (twice); took it easy varying the throttle and being careful I didn't burn the belt for about 30 miles...

    I think I'm reving a little high?

06 Apex Gt with 107 miles on it. On a hard-packed road I'm seeing about 10,700 to 10,800 and about 128mph on the DM. Brand new , I was seeing about 10,500. I've noticed the majority here are struggling to even get to 10,000. Is this normal for so few miles on this sled ? It seems to pull alot...

    Increased oil consumption with amsoil.

No! I did the same as you. I changed to amsoil at 2200 miles. I have 350 miles on since and i'm still at the full mark.

Dalton Clutch Kit with ECP filters

black john, did you not tell me you tried a green/black primary with that set-up too, and if so, how did that work?

Dalton Clutch Kit with ECP filters

Just wondering what everyone is using for a Dalton set-up with the ECP filters? I'm using the 57.5 wts, 52r/46 Helix, black/silver primary and silver secondary @ 70 deg. The ECP filters make a noticable difference, but I might be over reving a bit (10,600-10,700). Before the filters I was at...

    ECP Jetting?

First off, I'd like to say thank you Freddie! These filters are the best mod I have ever done to a sled! What a difference! I was out this weekend on the St. John river here in New Brunswick and did some WOT runs and some drag racing. The conditions were -20 c with -30c windchills.there was 2...

ECP or TPI filter performance reports

I can chuck pieces of sod from my lawn further than I ever could before, how is that for performance! Not much snow here yet, still waiting to test but the throttle response is great!

    gutting the exhaust

I took mine to a muffler shop. The heat shield is welded to the canister on the sides. Once the shield was removed, the canister was cut along the seam at the top and down the sides about 10" towards the back. It was then peeled back to access the baffles. One note of interest, the canister was...

    gutting the exhaust

its not much louder at idle, but it sounds sweet from about 4000 up. Its got a nice crackle to it. It sounds better than my srx did with a Bender race can on it. I peel off the top and back section of the muffler from the seam to access the baffles.

    9854 Track Swap

From what I can gather, the 9818 (9833 fully clipped) is the best all around performer for trail or deeper snow. Generally you will lose some top end speed as you go up in track profile (1.25" plus). There is more weight and as someone else mentioned "more fan like action under the tunnel" which...
