everthing
Not sure on the Timming? Any Idea what the stock pistons cost. we have to get a complete motor kit anyway. You recomend the head shim huh? The boost is controled by a Nob on the fly.
It is my dads sled and he does not ride vary hard so he will not need quite the performance as it...
Need to order a motor kit. What Pistons should I run? Stock or some other, maybe with a diff. wrist pin height? Running a Boondocker Turbo, If I run a piston with a lower comp. I might get away from having to run Race fuel everytime if I turn down the boost.
Boondocker said it is a race fuel...
cylinders
talked to the guy that re-sleeved the cylinders after the bores were stretched. He gave some pretty good Ideas of what could of caused it. When I send the bores and pistons to him he will give me a more precise idea what it was.
So far it is sounding like it was a assembly error
steel sleeves
That sounds good. I am not sure what they did . if they steel sleeved the cylinders or steel cased the case. What do they do when they do this to these motors for turbos
Finally got the motor out of the sled. WOW, that was fun.
Pulled the top end off of the motor(head) and found bad cylinders
No predetenation
They are streaked, but not gauged. you could see the Hone marks in some places. or quite a lot all the way around the cylinder here and there. on spot...
boost gauge
what is the easyest boost gauge to read. the one on the boondocker control box you can't read unless you are stoped. I was thinking of the AutoMeter for the same reason. to leave the parking lot at lower elevation and adjust up when climbing in elevation.
fuel
Ok, straight AV. fuel it is. That Torco additive is suposed to be pretty good I heard. If nothing else put a can in with 20 gallons of av. gas. it is suposed to make 92 pump into 96 I think at that ratio. that will bring av. gas up to almost 110 since it is 103 I heard.
Now on the...
Ave gas
We have run Ave gas in our RMK's mix with 92 ot. I heard that ave gas is 103 oct. I wonder about the O2 sensor with the lead in the ave gas. It sounds like it is working for you though, I have not seen a post where you have burnt the motor. We are running 13 lbs of boost. with no head...
head shim
I plan on running 102 oct. and no head shim. but I ride mostly form 3500-4500 somewhere in there. I hope that will now not be a prob.
AK I see you are running the head shim. how much boost, and how does it do against the competition?
control box
Hey Gager
I was woundering how you like the boondocker control box. I have a boondocker turbo with the box. I can't seem to fig out the control box. I have emailed Boondocker to try to get some instructions on it. How well does it run, I have not gotten to ride mine yet.
boost.
my controler says it has 4 lbs of boost at idle. That is what he was showing me. I am trying to figure out the control box. I hate it, want to remove and just install a boost gauge that you can read. not a tiny display
besides, that does not rule out smoking a cylinder at idle or just...
Mechanic's book
Where can I go to get a mechanic's book to do the motor without getting in trouble on this site. I don't want to go to the local dearler. I don't care for them.
head shim
We ride 3000 to app 6-7000 feet. 3000 or 2700 feet is where we take off. we spend most of our time from 4-5000 feet Playing and boondocking. Home is like 500 where we first road it.
I was planning on running the Torco add.
and 95 to 102 act. dep. on what I need and 12-13 lbs of...
don't know
Don't know how the motor was smoked. but it is. I need a clutch puller to see what the prob. is. If we smoked the motor, than it happend in the trailer while warming up on its own. Not that that could not happen. I am not trying to point fingers. I tried to get a hold of him to find...
I forgot.
The bad plug I pulled out of the PTO cylinder was Dry. The sled was also on fire when it finally just stopped. Don't know if it was just unburnt fuel in the exaust or what because the plug is dry. Maybe it is a fuel line broke or something.
don't have the correct compression...
