500 miles in Lac St Jean and the GT

Good post. I did that exact trip from St. Raymond to Lac St. Jean in Alna and back. On a side trail going to St. Catherine is where I bent my tunnel.

    GT rear shock rubbing

This one has me scratching my head. You'd think if one sled had these issues, they all would. If not, why not. I put 2500 miles on my RX1 last year with the mono, and had zero shock rub. I put 1000 miles on my ApexGT this year, and yanked the shock to put the heavy spring on. Zero shock...

    Jimmy Blaze Video

I think some of you naysayers ought to just hold your opinions until it's been released. I doubt Yamaha is too concerned about your opinions. They're looking for new customers and new niches. From the sounds of it, this sled isn't made to replace anything, just be something new entirely.

Who to rebuild elec ohlins gt shock?

    Excellent info. Thanks.

    The Totallyamaha Video Production Department

Does anyone have any experience with I photo? I was just starting to experiment with some digital video with my Sony Cybershot, which will take about 3 mins worth of video with the 256mb card. I did a couple short clips (about 10 secs.) no problem. Imported and played them back on my computer...

Who to rebuild elec ohlins gt shock?

I agree, I noticed it the second I put my heavy spring, it seemed to overpower the rebound damping. I'd also like to see more high speed compression for the sucker bumps. Let me know how you make out. I suspect mine has been leaking from the get go.

    Mid height windshield ride report.

Given I rode with the stock low for almost a 1000 miles and froze, I LOVE the improvement. I actually find myself turning down the handwarmers at times now, when before I could barely feel them working. I'm 6 feet, and the mid is perfect for me. If its super cold, I add the gauntlets. The...

    Bent tunnels?

Think about it. The shock is blown. The sled doesn't have a scratch on it, other than the bent tunnel. I think it's pretty clear what caused what.

    Bent tunnels?

I don't know how to prove that wasn't the case, but it wasn't. The sled has never been abused, on the roof, whatever. Once it's determined that the shock is blown (just step on the rear bumper and it's obvious), I would think Yamaha will realize this is a legitimate warranty claim.

    Bent tunnels?

Whats happenin' Jeff?! Had a great time riding with you last weekend, despite my less than excellent suspension lol :D

    Bent tunnels?

How is a blown shock rider error? I expect they'll pony up. Oh yeah I will. I want to run the sled next year, my only beef is the rear end.

Anybody find any new Idler wheels yet for apex

I found a dealer in Wallingford CT who as of today still had several windshields and sets of 05 idler wheels in stock. Call 203-265-1206.

Muninsing Clutching report Stock verse Ulmer Racing

Sorry, but I think you're wrong. Clutch kits are designed to increase the rate of upshift. All things being equal, like traction, the clutched Apex will rocket out about 2-6 lengths over stock and stay there til top end. I say that as someone who's raced other Apexes, and rode mine stock for...

    apex vs 800 ski-doo

I know they run good, but I still think the Apex has the edge. I ran my buddies 05 (he weighs 140 lbs) with my Apex and beat him in a short race (about 600 feet). I weigh 210, and his weight advantage usually wins him alot of races. Seat of the pants, they're not even close to an Apex. I...

    ? about Ohlins electronic shock

I just went to install my heavier spring on my Apex GT. It has 1100 miles on it. I noticed what seems to be an oily film on the shock shaft. I can compress the shock with alot of manual effort, and it rebounds slowly, so it doesn't seem to be blown. I've never noticed that on a shock shaft...

    ? about Ohlins electronic shock

I have 1100 miles on my Apex, 95% in primo snow. I just pulled my shock to install the heavier spring, and noticed what seems to be a oily film on the shock shaft. I've never noticed anything like that on a shock before, but it doesn't seem to be blown. I can compress the shock manually with...

    Long Rides on Apex/Attak

I have 1100 miles on my Apex, including 3 200 plus mile days. Very comfy sled, other than the useless handwarmers/windshield.

    "FIX" Engine brake problem

My opinion is based on riding and racing 4 stroke dirtbikes since the YZ400 came out in 98, and my second 4 stroke sled. I think the engine braking is an advantage, not a hinderance. Drive deeper into the corners, controlled oversteer situations, less need for brakes.

How Do you rate your APEX sled?? POLL

Best snowmobile I've had ever, no question, despite the rediculousness of non working handwarmers and no windshield. I'm also not happy about the dealers being out of the HD springs and optional windshields. But the riding position, the handling, the motor......the motor are worth the price of...
