Finally got the sled back from the dealer today. Muffler & ECU were replaced. Unfortunitly with no below zero weather I will be unable to test any start up backfiring. If the wife will let me go north this weekend I can try out if there is still any backfire after running a grade.

You are spot on. Michigan insurance is also a drag. Since moving from Wisconson, my rate on auto went up 4x and my sleds 3x. Insuring a Viper & 1200 Ski Doo - $800 a yr for both. In WI (same company) - $260

The starting backfire I had was maybe zero/sub zero morning in Munising. My sled has always had a backfire when coming to a slowdown after a grade, despite slowing down long before stopping.

So those that have had the backfire and muffler blown apart, what solution did they have for the cause of the backfire? My is in the shop still and the muffler will be replaced, however that will not solve that this could happen again, likely after my warranty is gone.

My sled is stock, no mods. It started quirky since new but never "required" a flash update until the fall of 2017. I was told to get the flash or lose the warranty.
