It's definitely just the header however I would buy a complete titanium system if it was available. For now I'll buy the '05 header when available and a GP-1. Should sound awesome and save at least 15-17 pounds in total. Mandatory earplugs might be the only downside.
That is a huge power loss LB (T660). I don't think that twin 1K will be very fast when it's seized on the side of the trail. I am not even slightly tempted to buy one, the fuel & oil consumption must be terrible and it probably smells really bad too. I don't like to bash manufacturer's but it...
I agree LB, that engine is a beast. 170ish :!: :o that's too much for me.
I like my 1000 4-stroke much more than any stinkin 3cyl. Sosuki engine.
I only have 800 miles on my stock '03 RX-1 121" and I have hit 129 on the speedo twice and the sled was still slightly pulling. I'll be more than...
I haven't tried it yet. Maybe once I get a new skid (X or M-10) this spring. You must need to give it lots of gas on the lip and pull back damn hard. Your turbo's would probably make the difference on the launch.
I'll post some pic's if/when I get the courage.
I noticed a crankcase vent being mentioned in a few posts. Can someone please tell me how to do this and/or why it is needed. I'm assuming it is to reduce some pressure building up in the crankcase?
Bone stock RX-1 2003.
Thanks in advance for your help, :?
That's some good news for me, the race i'm in is only 170miles. Can anyone tell from the photos @Irondog.org what the front suspension components are? Or where to buy them? :D
I haven't checked my mileage yet but it seems like 16mpg is the average in this post. I'm in a X/C race of 320 K/M soon and I want optimum fuel mileage cause I'm probably the only 4-stroke entering. Does 16 mpg sound reasonable for approx. 85-90mph average speed? Does the octane level effect the...
Thanks guys, I agree with you all. I'll have to workout hard, practice my breathing and slowing down a bit on the rough stuff. Last week I was riding that trail and I broke my right transfer rod. I hit 129mph on the sea ice and maintained 10,100-10,500 rpm for at least 3-4 minutes. Eskimo, I...
I need some help addressing any durability or handling issues that may exist. I am entering a long distance cross country race on March 31, I want to make the right adjustments and mods so I can at least finish the race. I plan to make the following mods prior to race day: Pioneer performance 3"...
Thanks RobX-1. I didn't think they would cover that but I'll check it out. Unfortunately the only Yamy dealer up here closed for a month :o
My mechanic says he can weld it so it doesn't break, I'll have to try that for now. Can't really afford the M-10 but I've heard some good things about...
I was riding my '03 shorty hard last weekend and I broke the right transfer rod where it connects at the top. The broken rod was ripping off all of the rubber wheel guiding knobs on the inside of the track at 100mp/h. I'm buying a 136" M-10 and a 1.25 ripsaw. :x
Thanks guys, I'll be buying both jets and float bowls ASAP. As to the skid? I'll probably buy the 136" extensions to save money. 144" expert-X would be nice but I think it might be a hand full in the corners (I'm only 165lbs.). Plus it's too expensive once converted to CDN$. Maybe someday.
I saw a post a while ago regarding the engine cutting out when climbing. Anyone know where to find this post or know what the fix is :?:
I own an '03 shorty and I'm considering a 136" extension with 1.25" ripsaw. Any suggestions on extensions or track lenths would be appreciated. I heard some...
Occasional aggression
I chose occasional aggression because I wan't to make it home at the end of the day. Luckily every trail were I live is ungroomed and so everyone contributes to tearing up the trails and nobody really cares (I hope) :) . If it's too rough you just slow down and hang on, or...
Brighter lights
Yamahbluerx1
Where can I order these brighter lights from :?:
In December we only have two or three of hours of sunlight each day. We experience alot of blowing snow and blizzard conditions so these would be perfect for the riding I do. I even found it hard to notice the...
What's in your name
Mine is also obvious, I own a 2003 RX-1 Ltd. and my home is the Canadian arctic. I'm a newbie to this site and I have only made a few posts so far, just wanted to intruduce myself, and say thanks for the excellent replies and suggestions. :D
That's great news! I do plan on having a 7' qamutik built for me so I can make it on long trips and carry hunting gear. I was going to bring a generator but maybe I won't bring it unless it's really cold. I noticed the rough suspension also. Our snow is pretty hard on the sea ice so I might get...
Thanks for all the great info. I had to ignore the "motoman" suggestion regarding changing to synthetic at full break-in (1500Mi). It is too damn cold up here so I had to switch to synthetic Polaris 4-stroke oil @700K/M. It's good down to -47C and I started my RX-1 at -42C a week ago with no...
