I was riding my '03 shorty hard last weekend and I broke the right transfer rod where it connects at the top. The broken rod was ripping off all of the rubber wheel guiding knobs on the inside of the track at 100mp/h. I'm buying a 136" M-10 and a 1.25 ripsaw. :x

ArcticRX, if you still have a warranty, I would definitely check into it. I think it was LazyBastard that had the same thing happen to him and I believe they warrantied the rods and the track. If they do, then you can still upgrade but w/ a lot less out of pocket expense. Just a thought.

Thanks RobX-1. I didn't think they would cover that but I'll check it out. Unfortunately the only Yamy dealer up here closed for a month
My mechanic says he can weld it so it doesn't break, I'll have to try that for now. Can't really afford the M-10 but I've heard some good things about it. I think I'll try the tips on the recent post (All suspension updates) before committing to the M-10. Then again, I sure would like a 136" and I don't trust rail extensions or my stock skid.

Arctic Rx, a dealer should replace them, yamaha knows about the problem but are not saying anything. mine broke and the dealer would replace them if I broght it in because they had to do the work. the new ones are thicker on top. also replaced the bushings on top, because they had grooves in them.

replace

My dealer replaced my track on warranty with the track of my choice. They also allowed me to use the money for the transfer rods towards maximum performace high qaulity transfer rods. Only cost me $30 because of the difference in price. Hope you have as good of yami dealer as mine.
