When I first bought My Rs venture I smoked belt putting it on trailer.....couldn't see it on belt. I thought my track was ratcheting.....adjusted it....no difference...until I replaced belt. It doesn't take much...but my symptoms were the same.
I agree on bearing maintenance. I repack mine every year, all idlers, driveshaft, and secondary. Just replaced all originals @9000km....only one left is shaft behind secondary, and that will be done before it sees snow this season. A simple bearing can ruin a trip and take all kinds of...
My 2011 has no graphics on hood.
Keep an eye on your plastic slides. I had to change mine out at about 800-1000km. Couple time they started to stick to track on groomed trails, then pretty well killed them one day when conditions were poor. I replaced them with the more expensive duponts, added...
Hey Tombob
Looked at all your posts and saw many great ways to remove bearing with collar.
Mine is a 2011, has the retaining cup and a circlip on the Jackshaft. Looks like the bearing inner race fits snuggly on the shaft...ie no collar. I have not attempted it yet, and maybe I'm not...
I have a 2011 RS Venture. I just replaced all skid and the driveshaft bearing....8500km. Did it more for piece of mind.
I've googled, but I can't find procedure to remove Jackshaft bearing in place. All posts on this site have a bearing with a wedge cone and nut. My machine has a bearing cup...
A machinist friend of mine put me onto 50/50 acetone automatic transmission fluid. Mix it up in a spray bottle and warm it to her. After several good soakings I've removed seized wheels off snowblowers. Worth a try.
I use scratchers almost religiously....leaving my friend's place...we have about a 30km groomed road......so with speed and weight of the machine I put them down anyways. The duponts look like they were just installed, that's all i'll use from now on. Over 7000km on them. All original idler...
Nice......I have a 2011 rs venture......8000km.......put the DuPont slides on at 8-900km......only other thing I did was grease it and put gas in it. Quite pleased with it.
That really sucks. If it's anything like our area, these incidents cause great financial challenges for the clubs. Years ago when the clubs were first started in our area.....very first groomer we had....brand new....local club executive and members insisted the president do the maiden voyage...
I have 2011 rs venture.....did the limiter strap up one notch and took pretty much all pressure off that spring.."world of difference. I' m still running stock carbides.
As per suggestions on this site...my track is set free sag approx 1.25 inches.
Also, when my original slides wore...
Think of it like gearing on bicycle......1st gear has chain on small sprocket up front...large sprocket on rear. On the snowmobile the belt is low on front clutch and high on the secondary. As you go faster the belt rides higher in clutch and lower in secondary.
Also be aware if you use the...
Yep...thought it was you....so I'm guessing you'll see for yourself when snow hits. As you know, one's I have now work awesome....except when I forget and back-up. I think you and Glenn were with me one day when I had to straighten one out.
On my friend's expedition......yea they are far back......but they put the snow in the rear....and the track circulates it. It fills the skid pretty good. Work just as well as mine....which I have under the front footrests. They are pretty deceiving. I'm also going to explore the new rail...
They have a new bolt with a long shoulder....so you remove existing bolt for upper idler wheel and use new one. As I said before, mine are straight.....very functional...except can't reverse. I'm thinking if I can't mount it onto my upper idler....I can modify existing bracket I have now for my...
I have a 2011 RS venture. I sprayed window...drove it back. ..until about 4" through...started her up...spun it in reverse. Installed new one...did the other one.
Didn't cut any windows.
I installed DuPont Vespa ones...over 6000km on them. More expensive...but that's all I'll use.
No...but I'll get some on the weekend from his machine. My machine is stored elsewhere, so I can't try it yet. But they do work awesome. I use mine pretty religously on groomed trails....and as I said...very functional.....except reverse.
I'm thinking I can make them fit on mine.
There is a...
