My friend bought a 900 ace Expedition last year. He installed the new BRP ice scratchers....the have a coil in the middle. Mount to rear upper idler wheel bolt. They work pretty awesome. You can put them down and forget about them. When you back up...that middle coil has enough give that it'll sort of fold over.
I have a venture....I have hard shaft scratchers....brackets mounted under front footrests. Over 6000km on dupont slides....never seen the temp light come on. Of course I've forgot on several occasions...bent them up pretty good in reverse. But on hard back they kick up tons of snow and keep slides wet ...engine cool...even in spring conditions.
Anyone know of similar ones to fit Venture. When I get mine out of storage, he's game for removing one off his to try on mine. Might be able to fit them in my existing brackets....or make new brackets. I'm thinking the installed height would have to be close to his or they won't work right.
Just wondering if anyone has tried this. Don't want to re-invent the wheel if someone else has.

No...but I'll get some on the weekend from his machine. My machine is stored elsewhere, so I can't try it yet. But they do work awesome. I use mine pretty religously on groomed trails....and as I said...very functional.....except reverse.
I'm thinking I can make them fit on mine.
There is a video on their website.....but I didn't think it would be apprpropriate to post here.

Have you ever tried dura flex ice scratchers, they work great and you can go in reverse without no worries.

They have a new bolt with a long shoulder....so you remove existing bolt for upper idler wheel and use new one. As I said before, mine are straight.....very functional...except can't reverse. I'm thinking if I can't mount it onto my upper idler....I can modify existing bracket I have now for my present scratchers. These work just as well as mine, with the benefit of reverse. Kick up lots of snow, like mine do. Also posted a pic of what I have now.

Ive looked at these too but aren't they back a bit far on the suspension to fill the complete skid?
Here is a vid of both types.

On my friend's expedition......yea they are far back......but they put the snow in the rear....and the track circulates it. It fills the skid pretty good. Work just as well as mine....which I have under the front footrests. They are pretty deceiving. I'm also going to explore the new rail mounted ones. If I can make them fit, I'm pretty confident I'll be switching mine.

Yep...thought it was you....so I'm guessing you'll see for yourself when snow hits. As you know, one's I have now work awesome....except when I forget and back-up. I think you and Glenn were with me one day when I had to straighten one out.

Yup and I almost did the same thing with mine. Be interesting to see how it works.
