Yikes

It's easy to second guess from the armchair but it's hard to see why the machine was running where it was especially with the semi open water area so close. I'm not sure if this was a trail that had been groomed previously by the same machine or if this was the first run.

Sounds like this group has had a lot of repair bills this season even before this incident.

This is not in the Lake Gogebic area. GRTA grooms from Ironwood east to Marnesco to the SE and about a third of the way to Bergland to the NE.

This happened on 11N north of Bessemer MI.

While getting pulled out the rear axle broke. Not good...... All 3 GRTA groomers are down now.

That really sucks. If it's anything like our area, these incidents cause great financial challenges for the clubs. Years ago when the clubs were first started in our area.....very first groomer we had....brand new....local club executive and members insisted the president do the maiden voyage. Lost her in a bog....not even an hour's use on it. They had to tie a rope onto the exhaust tip to mark the spot. No part of the machine was visible after 4-5 hours. Insurance or warranty didn't cover it.....they got it out...stripped her down....month later she was running.

2 of their 3 groomers are back up and running.
