I still can't believe nobody has come out with an aftermarket replacement plate with a grease zert that has a proper seal to keep the grease in. Would sell lots of them, lol! Probably could just thread a zert into the original plate & make a thin gasket just larger in diameter than the...
I do love my Apex as this is my third one, however, the C.K skid is by far the worst riding suspension in the market. Yamaha has to spend the time in designing a totally new suspension that will be as good if not better than the R-motion. Apparently the "new" slingshot suspension isn't really...
Would I like a larger tank, yes , would I buy one, really depends on how much $$. If the cost is too much I could fabricate something like icebreakers which is a sweet looking fuel addition!
That's the big problem with getting rid of the springs, once you blow a shock it's like getting a flat tire, lol!
Sorry about your luck, unfortunately they are having problems with those shocks
If you are riding in normal snow conditions that looks about right. If you run it on ice road type conditions the belt will rub out more of your marker lines as it will shift out more. They never shift all the way in normal conditions
.
I installed it with the suspension in & found it relatively easy to install. I personally don't think there is any benefit to taking the skid out, well, besides having it at a better working height on the bench, lol. If your skid is already out or you have to take it out for some other reason...
Like I said, $500, be it cdn or U.S, too much for a piece of rubber, lol . There are more effective ways to help these suspensions for a lot less money
It rids the sled of the rear sag and does ride a bit better. Still harsh in the studders though but not as bad as stock. Many say it has better transfer but comparing mine to my buddies, mine with the star has less transfer ( rear springs on softest & limiter strap all out)
Anyone who is willing to take the time to paint the plastics, I can almost guarantee are going to meticulously maintain the sled....well, at least thats me, lol!!
Congrats, nice find & don't worry, the sidewinder won't be any faster than the beauty you just bought :)
Kinda hard to tell by the pic but it looks like the dude or dudette you bought it from already installed the Star suspension kit, score!! lol
So it holds its max peak horse power from 10,100 right up to 10,600 & then starts to fade off. Thanks for posting that Riceburner, thats awesome info! Nice to know the exact parameters we should be running at.
Has it always been that high? Have you tried a different belt? Sometimes the belt makes a difference, not sure if that is your issue but it is an easy one to try & find out.
I made the stow bracket out of a galvanized pipe. I just cut it length ways then peeled it open with pliers. I straightened & flattened it where it mounts to the ski
