I'm pretty bummed in regards to how my year ended up. I love my 2016 XTX and thought the Singleshot performed well, but on the last trip of the year I blew TWO rear shocks out. Presently, the shock is backordered all the way until June. So, for the time being my sled is sitting as a low rider. I don't want to be negative, but I'm definitely disappointed to say the least. Do you think there is such a long backorder on the Singleshot shock because they're coming out with a recalibrated one for 2017? Interested in others opinions.

I had to replace the front shock on my rear suspension on my '12 Apex xtx, same deal, none to be found. Took about 3 months to get. Fortunately, the guys we work with for parts and repair, KB Enterprises, had a loaner shock they put in to get me through the season until my new onr finally arrived in March. Can't understand how such a common part is not stocked by Yamaha.

That's the big problem with getting rid of the springs, once you blow a shock it's like getting a flat tire, lol!
Sorry about your luck, unfortunately they are having problems with those shocks

Not cool. It may be worth talking to the elka guys to see if they make a shock that would fit there.
Judging by your post, having that shock go is a day ender for sure,

Thanks for the input. Looking in to Elka may be a good idea, but I want to make sure the shock gets covered under warranty.

How do I spell junk = ""FLOAT"". Sorry about your luck bud. I guess that's why I've kept my Attak as long as I have. Love that adjustable Ohlins !

Sorry to hear that. Losing the rear suspension can be an awful experience, i have been there.
I beat the living snot out of the float i installed in my 06 apex and never had it fail.
But i did catch some ice or something one time and it snapped the schrader valve off inside the shock body.
I drove it home 50 miles like a lowrider. Track scraping the tunnel protectors the whole way.
After that i carried a spare schrader valve and tools to change it but honestly i lost all my confidence in the float because of that 1 miserable experience.
I want back to stock kyb shock that came with the sled and sold the megafloat.

Personally, I'd look into a coil over shock of equal length and stuff it in there. You're gonna have fun messing with the valving. But will have a coil spring to rely on to get you home.
