thanks, i found it. i was looking to see if the grips had a fuse, someone told me to check a fuse first, but i see the grips don't have a separate fuse.
i don't believe an intermittent no start would be a battery, they are either there or they are not. it is probably a connection problem that has cleared.(i took the battery out to change the oil, so the connections are solid now)
added water to the battery and charged it a bit. seems to start every time now. i don't know if it was that or lack of use from the previous owner and now that i'm starting it the solenoid works better.
I have looked around but i can't find out if it is different to change the belt on an rx-1. the newest sled previously was a 93 and you had to spread the sheaves manually. thanks
i think you check the battery and ground connections and the connections to the solenoid. if they are all good we have to replace the solenoid.(at least that's what i'm going to do)
