Check the ignition switch, sometimes they don't make good contact in the switch. Friends apex was stored in an inclosed trailer and had to play with the ignition switch sometimes it works sometimes not
I would take the shock out of the skid and see if you can compress it. I had shocks for an Arctic cat rebuilt years ago and had the same problem. When the shock was rebuilt it was put back together wrong and would not compress. The company redid the shock and worked when I got it back.
Tors will activate at an idle. As long as the throttle cable is being pulled and the throttle lever is not moving. And turning the skis one way can activate the tors and not activate in the other direction. Have had this happen to me. The way the cable is routed puts more pull on the cable in...
I would check the free play in the throttle cable. Sounds like tors activating. Quick check is loosen the throttle block and slide it towards the center of bars and then check for the same condition.
I don't know of a video that shows that process, but it is not difficult. You do not need to remove the suspension or take apart the chain case. If you want to try it I could walk you through it.
Sometimes the control block is under the rubber grip and you just have to use a little force. As long as you loosen the two screws you will be good to go.
I have used straightline performance scratchers with the clamps that mount the cables to the lower a-arms. They work well and easy to remove if you don't need them.
On the older apex sleds, the hose is routed through the hole in the frame behind the oil tank. The newer Apex sleds I have do not have a drain hose anymore.
If you can hold on until tomorrow I can try and see. I know years ago someone on this site took a gen one chassis and turned it into a gen two. I think the biggest question would be the size of the throttle bodies and air box with air horns
The starter relay is along side the battery. I would also check to be certain the battery cables are tight. I have found that the cables can loosen so maybe a little blue locktite on the cable bolts
