I put about 3,000 miles on my 09 Nytro and I now have just over 3,000 miles on my F1100 turbo. I can tell you the Procross chassis is definitely easier to ride hard and has noticeably lighter steering than the Nytro does. Overall when my F is running it is the best sled I have owned, the...
I could not find this info anywhere either so I documented a set of shocks that only had a 100 miles on them and have used that for my personal rebuilds.
Front track shock on 2009 fx Nytro: 200 psi, 4.900" IFP depth
Rear track shock on 2009 fx Nytro: 280 psi, 2.820" IFP depth when measured...
I did the dual rate rear and the triple rate fronts at the same time and it made a huge improvement. I would recommend just the fronts first if you can't afford all of them at the same time but all of them together really makes the sled handle a lot better which I think is mostly because it...
Last year we crossed some sections that were way longer when the river was opening up. The only thing you have to worry about is the belt getting wet so we sometimes duct tape the seams on the clutch side if we are planning huge stretches. The ones on those videos didn't require any tape.
That is a standard fx nytro. Here is another video, you can see what happens when those awesome slopped out Yamaha ball joints get a death shake halfway through the section of water, just watch the handlebars.

Yes, the Nytro's do pretty well on water but I'm afraid to find out what it will take to make it run again if I ever sink one. Here is a video my brother shot from a helmet cam last weekend in southern WI as well.

Correct, Carver has everything but Yamaha info. Deycore also publishes a lot of IFP depth info but has nothing for Yamaha either. On another note I am rather amazed at the amount of changes made to the valving and other components by a certain manufacturers re-valve package.
Alright, so either nobody knew the answer to this or nobody but me cares or rebuilds their own shocks. Just in case somebody else searches for this here is what I have found from taking apart and measuring some low mileage shocks in good condition.
Front track shock on 2009 fx Nytro: 200...
Hi, can somebody help me out with the proper floating piston depth settings for the standard fx Nytro gytr shocks? I have searched everywhere and have a Yamaha service manual which does not give this information. My Polaris and Arctic manuals have always covered this, why does it seem to be...
Both mine and my brothers 09's were getting sloppy by 500 miles and are only getting worse now they they are up to 2000 miles. I was planning on going to the dealer and working them over for warranty once they got to the point where I felt they were unsafe.
My brother and I have identical short track Nytro's except mine has a DNF clutch kit and his is stock. Last weekend we put on 600 miles in the UP together and every fillup mine took approximately .5 gallons more gas than his did. I don't think it is enough of a difference to notice except for...
I own an 09 D8 and your statement of using little oil and gas could not be further from the truth. I have yet to ride at any speed, condition, or group of people where my sled has not used the most fuel out of any sled in the group at every fill up. My D8 now has a scored piston so I rode my...
If you are always wearing just one side of the belt it sound like an alignment or offset issue. According to your post above you have way to much float so you could start by reducing that. I would buy a good alignment bar and check that next. I have noticed that these belts do wear fairly...
It seems to me the rattle is because when the primary is disengaged at idle the weights do not touch the rollers which gives them some room to rattle and make noise. Once the clutch starts to engage the rattle goes away. The dnf weights that I put in do contact the roller when the clutch is...
All this talk about bent subframes makes me think I should reinforce mine for a summer project. I haven't bent one or seen a bent one yet, can somebody post pics of exactly where the problem area is? It would be pretty cheap and easy to make some laser cut gussets and tig weld them over the...
I didn't have really good hard pack conditions because people are just starting to run the river around here so there is a fair amount of loose snow on it yet but I saw 93 mph on the speedo max. I think my brothers completely stock sled may have been 1 or 2 more than that. I would be extremely...
I just put these weights in my Nytro and rode it 80 miles last night with your suggestion of 1 bolt 5 washers in the shoulder and 1 bolt 2 washers in the center with tip and overdrive empty. Conditions were not the greatest but it seemed to run really strong on bottom and midrange but fall a...
My 09 standard fx Nytro bucks when I ride it really hard through large, closely spaced moguls as well. No matter what I do with the compression dampening adjustment it is not enough to fix this so it obviously needs a re-valve. I think the problem is the compression is to stiff in the small...
