    Stator gone bad!

Good thing you are covered, I just replaced mine on my 05 Vector. Part alone was $300 and I did all the work. Only had 3 years of coverage when I bought it. Working fine now, but kind of po that the part went bad. Only thing I could tell is it looked like the wire was burned where it comes out...

A possible cam chain tensioner failure

I wish I would have known about this before I got done with my Stator Coil Replacement. I had it apart to replace a bad coil on my 05 RS/ER would have been easy to deal with then. Don't feel like doing that tear down again this season, but maybe afterwards prior to storage I will do it. I'll...

    Bleeding Cooling System

Raise the rear of the sled off the ground, and losen the bleed screw at the rear. Fill coolant until you get a good stream coming from the bled screw. Once no more air is coming out, tighten screw, lower sled and make sure resevoir is filled to the proper level.

    05 Vector Not Charging Battery??

Done.. Didn't have to pull engine thankfully, just lossen the motor mounts, pull out rear mount and tilted it forward enough to clear frame to get cover off. Back running again and looking at the old stator, it has some burn marks were the wire comes out of the coils. Vibration maybe caused it...

    05 Vector Not Charging Battery??

Thanks for the feed back. I was afraid of that, I'll try removing motor mounts first to get at it, if not then I'll remove it. I'll ask dealer what he would charge to do it, but since I have more time on my hands than money sounds like a good job for me and my other unemployed buddy. Merry...

    05 Vector Not Charging Battery??

Guys, Need some help. Vector died on my first ride this year . Symptoms appear to be a charging issue. Wouldn't start and lights were real dim, dash stopped working, handlebar warmers same. Able to limp it back to camp. I repaced battery since I was up in Land-O-Lakes and wanted to get it...

    121 to 136 extention kits

pro116, I am assuming you have left the chain and axle sproket in place while doing this to hold it with the track? I have already removed them but can put them back on. I'll have to pickup a new wrench, didn't have an adjustable big enough. Luv buying new tools. Thanks.

Whats the best way/tools to use to remove the driven sproket nut? I don't have the special tools they show to use. Drive Sprocket/jack Shaft Holder. What size is that nut, 38mm? Options not to have to buy the special tools. I think on my SRX, I used a pipe wrench and a pry bar in the...

Rear Tunnel Crinkling - My Repair

Is Yamaha covering this failure under warranty? I have same issue, along with stress cracks in mine. 3600 miles on 05. I am going to make up and install brackets like Garserio did, nice work by the way. To me it is a design defect, even if it is caused by running over the rear flap. I just...

Rear Tunnel Crinkling - My Repair

Interesting thought on this from Apex side. Its possible, I have done this myself but never thought to look at tunnel for damage. I guess I will shorten my flap as well as add the brackets.

Rear Tunnel Crinkling - My Repair

Just checked mine, same problem almost identical looking as yours. Not sure how long its been like that but I didn't notice it at the start of this year. So some time after 2600+ miles it started to occurr. Have not yet talked to the dealer about it but I'm not going to wait for them, I'll...

    Rubberized Wheels for Suspension (Help??)

I'll need a second set of inner wheels after my last trip of the year next weekend. 2nd set waffled/bent after another 1500 miles. If yammie doesn't come out with the right wheel/bearing with rubber mounts, then I'll be machining some to fit. Riding in low snow or hitting rocks will bend...

    general engine maintenence

Anyone using/losing antifreeze? Seems like I have been adding a little every 500 mi. Not sure if I'm losing it via overflow or not. I have one more trip next weekend so I'll try and monitor the overflow. Also noticed some oil in the airbox, from breather tube. Nothing major, hadn't checked...

Anyone try a clutch kit yet?

Freak what was up with your Flo Commander? I have one installed on my Vector (main and pilot) and have not had any issues. Can you explain more? The Flo Commander helped me eliminate the lag I used to have when slamming shut on the throttle, I think it was a good install/kit to add. I have...

Anyone try a clutch kit yet?

I'm running Ulmer Racing Stage 3 Clutch Kit. Weights, multi angle helix, primary and secondary spring. Real gains at both low end trail performance and picked up top end as well. Was really impressed with the changes and adjustabiltiy of the Super Tip weights. Was able to keep top end speed...
