Rubberized Wheels for Suspension (Help??)

I have just over 1000 miles on mine with 144 studs. All the wheels look good and the hyfax is still good after all kinds of conditions. I am just trying to fix the track noise.

Looks like I need a second set of new inner plastic wheels.

Has anyone figured out a fix for this yet other than machining wheels to take the different bearings?

I machined the parts to fit the rubber wheels but it did not help the God awful deafening noise of the track. I believe the wheels are getting chewed up from ice build up not the studs as mine were chewed before stud install. You have to add the marginal wheel kit to help the Hyfax wear . At your expense of course.Only a warranty item in Canada. The Yamaha fit and finish is to cover up all the half a--ed engineering underneath the hood. Clutch rattle, deafening track noise, hyfax wear, plastic wheels, etc. etc. Did anyone at Yamaha actually test these sleds or are we the test pilots ?The engine sounds sweet the little you can hear it.I really thought Yamaha was better than this. If I wanted all these issues, I would have bought another Ski-Doo.The warranty is also a joke.Don't have a problem with a U.S. sled in Canada. More on that later.

AZ- I would have to agree with the you on just about everything you said I have personally experianced your same problems. I'm bummed that the rubber wheels had no effect on track noise. I did install the low snow wheels- I laugh at that name because I haven't ridden in any marginal snow conditions. I switched from polaris and with all the troubles they are having with there new sled and the problems that Skidoo has had with reliability of the motors It makes me think that all the manufactures use us as test pilots. The one that gets me about the vector is that they sell these things in Chicago region and south of there and they say if your going to trailer them you should install fuel shutt-off switch. They know your gooing to trailer it! It's not like your going to drive up the interstate with the ******* thing. Ok I'm done letting off steam- I have learned my lesson don't buy first year model sleds you will be sorry!!

Many of my friends warned me of the same thing. Hind sight is 20/20 though. I just couldn't wait to squeeze the trigger and get the new Vector. I'm still basically very happy with it, and hopefully the small stuff will get handled. Hopefully the problem areas of my '05 will be fixed with '06 style stuff when I drop it off in the spring with my warranty list...

The only "issues" I've had with my Vector is the clutch rattle, and the wearing out of the plastic idler wheels. My hyfax weared A LOT at first, but have since stopped. I still can't get a 10 mm wrench over any section of them....so they're still good at 1080 miles.

I'll have the clutch shimmed under warranty, and replace the plastic idler wheels with rubber ones (which I can do myself). I have no problem with excessive track noise either. I've been extremely happy with my sled thus far!

I'm with you Tfin. Looks like there's a fix to my clutch rattle and lense fogging. The plastic wheels will be replaced by me if not by the dealer. (hopefully the latter) Small hurdles to achieve the desired results.

My hyfax is still fine after 1000 miles. Like a lot of people that post here, mine wore rapidly at the start, but after "seasoning" they're doing just fine.

As I said before, I'm sure we're stuck with the track noise. If it doesn't bother you, that's great. I'm getting used to it but I still feel that it is excessive. I'm not bothering to look into it because I don't think there's anything that can be done other than change the track, and I'm not about to experiment to that degree.

It helps to discuss these issues here, as there is a lot of valuable information shared. Without information from this site, I would be done looking into the clutch rattle, as I complained about it right away and my dealer said "it's normal, they all do it". (in their defense, this was well before Yami acknowledged the problem)

You guys keep talking about replacing the plastic inner wheels with the rubber ones. As far as I know they haven't come out with any rubber wheels. If you know different please advise me as to were you are getting them as Yamaha still didn't have any available as of earlier this week. I see AZ machined his own. Not an option for myself. ANy info would be appriecated.... :D

I am sure the worthless Yamaha Customer Disservice Dept. will jump right on the rubber wheel issue like they did the clutch rattle. You may as well look for someone to machine the parts for you. I used the Polaris wheels which are about 5 MM larger diameter. This seemed to help the hyfax wear problem. Mine was eating slides in 300 miles to paper thin. I now have 2000 miles on the current set. Also added the marginal snow wheels even though I was running in good snow.

I'll need a second set of inner wheels after my last trip of the year next weekend. 2nd set waffled/bent after another 1500 miles. If yammie doesn't come out with the right wheel/bearing with rubber mounts, then I'll be machining some to fit. Riding in low snow or hitting rocks will bend these cheap wheels. While I'm at it, I'll get the clutch noise fix installed and I'll finally see if I can ge the dealer to fix TORS problem. Then put her away for the summer :(

A few MINOR issues considering the abuse these sleds take but I'm happy as hexx with then RS. :D
