I removed the 3 bolts that hold it to the tunnel. If I try to pry it from the bottom, I can see it move on the driveshaft bearing. So, I think it is hung up on the jackshaft bearing. Do I need to remove the jackshaft in order to get the chaincase off? Ultimate goal here is to replace the lower chaincase bearing.

BTW, I tried to remove the jackshaft per the instructions in the tech section. I rapped on it pretty good using hammer and wood, but could not get it to budge. I can't imagine what is holding it on. I removed the threaded collar on the secondary side, is there anything else I forgot?

Thanks for any help.

You do not have to remove the jack shaft to get the chain case cover off and replace the lower bearing.

I remember my cover was on there pretty good too when I did my bearings last year. If I recall correctly, I worked it off with a pry bar.

Is your skid in or out? If it's not out it's easier if it is or at the very least the track is VERY loose..

Make sure the chaincase is coming off straight or it'll bind real bad...lots of jiggling and swearing and it'll come off.

Guys, What size nut is that holding on the driven sprocket? Trying to get mine off but have nothing that big. Also how do you hold the jack shaft while removing the nut? Any help is appreciated.

It's a 36mm nut. ;)!

I just had my dad holding the secondary while I undid the nut.

I used a big creascent wrench on the driven nut and a second crescent wrench on the drive shaft letting it rest aginst the crossmember in the suspension.

Hold the brake lever, to stop everything in your chaincase from turning!

Hmmm, well, that's kinda hard since you have to remove the brake to get the outer cover off... LOL

On a Doo or others where the brake is on the inside of the chaincase, you could hold it with the brake... ;)!

Sorry man. Never even looked. Had lots of Polaris' apart and always used the brake. Had one Yamaha Venture apart 5 years ago and have forgotten. Good luck.
