You bet.
basically, You could do ,for example, what you desire and make that spring with squared ends, ...but you would have to shorten it to get the stress down on the active center coils. This would result in less compression on load one and load two of that spring, which may not be what you...
It has to do with getting the required rates desired during the design.
If,..for example, ..spring design dictated that you need 4.5 coils for example, of a certain wire size and a certain free length, etc....all of that changes when you adjust pitch of the coils.
Some coils are "active"...
I believe, if I remember correctly, that my 2005 Rx1 had 15mm rollers for that model year ( not 15.5 like they went to later) it was only that year I believe. The first year of monoshock rear suspension.
The 15mm may be an option.
We sell helix ...I can tell you that there is still, after all this time no "most common" because of all the variations of gearing and boost levels and types of tunes and primary clutch set ups used.
There are getting to be 5 or 6 fairly common helixes...but many of those even are very opposite...
The reason for not using the long 1" slug all the way to the tip is this.
We have had a few in the early days that got stuck.
It is a tapped hole, and even a bottoming tap does still have some taper on the cutting threads, so it is not perfect tap right at the end. I know many do and can but if...
Hey Mike, it may also be worth noting that for this application of cat secondary springs on this vehicle...maybe do not twist more than necessary and try to une with somewhat normal torsion twist settings.
3 cyl 4 strokes seem to have some breakages now and then in small wire torsion if...
The production batch for the latest version of black orange had a slight change in hook tang position ( very slight, it looks the same at first glance and hard to see, but the slight difference makes it this way for setting. The 6-2 setting on the newest version is exactly same torsion as 61 on...
Hi Mike,
I know it may not be relative to what you are doing here, but it should be noted that while you are indeed correct that larger wire diameter size does increase torsion...it has to be noted that that statement is only true if exactly the same number of coils are used....even a little...
I'm not laughing about it, what I said I find entertaining is the power of internet.
We have a fairly steady stream of email and inquiry about whats popular...and I say it again, it truly is all over the place for helix angles, secondary settings, and related gearing. Some buy our Yamaha...
Hi Dan,
Lots have asked recently about how cat secondary springs may compare...I thought..." there must be something on line...because last year everyone wanted springs not so heavy...now they seem to want to compare springs that are way heavier",lol...Funny thing is, some of the same ones who...
If you want a bit of comparison to compare the yamaha spring to the cat you have to take into account a few things. You cant exactly compare or convert the numbers from some arctic chart to some numbers on a Yamaha chart and convert from kg to lbs....they are not measured at the same compressed...
possibly, but any that I have ever heard of that had problems had roller blown or roller bushing shot and created distorted flyweight movement.
and it is fairly common ...you can search it here right?.
if they break aluminum around that mount area like that you can be pretty sure that the...
that broken clutch is not the fault of the clutch or the flyweight used whatsoever.
The roller went out and let the flyweight flip up and in that lever position it breaks away the clutch....it would not matter what the material or webbing or anything else....if the weight flips over like that...
haha...myeyes are old too Steve. with the rounded edges on the casting you probably wouldnt notice much, plus the ones that are just raw cast usually have a bit of a twisted inconsistent ramp anyway
On another note some seem to question its usefulness for their own application and I'm sure you will get lots of answers for that ( that are all peoples own opinions...clutching)
35/39 may work well for some combinations and is a popular helix that apparently does work well for many.
However...
