I'm going through a similar issue right now.....it would surge and buck at approx 5000rpm...but only at a specific throttle position. Above and below that it would be fine...and it didn't throw any codes. It felt like the spark was cutting in and out. Found a loose exhaust clamp....installed...
If you don't have access to a welder, I would just get some aftermarket adjusters that bolt in. I found some on eBay....I just didn't want to wait for them.
I powder coated the rails, foot wells, rear bumper, steering knuckles and front springs. I scuffed up the tunnel, used some etching primer and bedlinered it. We'll see how it holds up this season....seems pretty tough.
Here's a pic of the sled almost back together. I think I have to pull off the gas tank and high temp pain the aluminum heat shield that is visible from the side....looks odd with a single aluminum coloured strip.
Basically, I flipped the bracket around to face the front.
There is a circular tab that wraps around and rests on the back of the rail to provide support when the adjusting but is tightend. When I flipped the bracket around, the tab hit the rail...so I cut it off. Then I tacked a 3/8" nut...
Since I'm running a used take off track, I'm sure it won't stretch. I think I'm going to pick up a bolt on adjuster (like the pic ) and put it on the outside like cannondale suggested....i'll probably have to trim the back of the rail extension too. So much for a bolt on extension! Thanks guys!
thanks guys.....kinda glad to hear I'm not the only one! How is your track tension? Mine seems really tight....way tighter than I used to run it. I'm not too concerned with the adjusting nuts not engaging the nylon....I would be comfortable putting locktite on them and running it....but I...
Hey all,
Been a long time watcher...never a poster so please bare with me....sorry for the long post!
I decided to stretch my 07 fx to a 136" this summer with the 7.5" tracks USA extensions (yam-100)...
just looking at the specs on those for the dogbone link....looks like the "B" dimension of the 10mm joint is 14mm....the stock dogbone "B" dimension is 14mm (which is perfect) but the bolt hole diameter is only 8mm. The 8mm joint "B" dimension is only 12mm. I like the idea of using a larger and...
my original ecu was 8GC-00...the new ecu with the cold start update is 8GC-10. My dealer here told me not to bother with the decompression springs...they said they would put them in because someone is paying them for the whole kit to be installed but if i'm doin it myself..not to bother...
my 07 fx was the same way....took about 10-15 seconds of cranking before it would start. Just installed the ecu from the cold start update kit...turns over 4 or 5 times and fires up right away (when cold).
