I would get that checked right away. The starter relay on my 09 RTX failed and burned out my starter, but I did not notice any noises from the starter as the the engine was running as the starter burned out. There is a starter warning light available for about 15 bucks.
Something is wrong there, find a clutch guru to help you solve this problem. I've only changed a belt once , at 5200 miles , and only because I though the belt was a little worn. Good luck and I hope you find a fix, belts are not cheap.
Yeah , you can drag it but you won't lift it! I pretty much don't go where I can get stuck alone anymore! Had to call for help once this year already…how embarrassing was that!
No, this is not normal. I just don't know what might cause that problem. My 2009 RTX is a rocket out of the hole(picked track). I'm sure you will hear from someone who has dealt with this problem. TY 4stroke has a ton of informed members. I have always got great advice from this site...
I put a set of 4 inch doolys on my 09 RTX (stock skis)and they work very well in the trails. I had a set on my 08 Phazer and figured I would try them. I'll buy another when these wear.
The hot pack is a great idea , I always have a couple in the bag. When I changed the relay it was quite easy after I removed the plastic plug that holds the relays to the frame and swivelled the bracket out so my hand would fit. Put a rag below the relays to catch the brand new relay before you...

REGULAR IT IS!
Thanks for all the info , I will run regular and buy a couple of beers with the savings . I will make sure there is only premium in the tank before storage. I also use sea foam every couple of tanks. Thanks again.
I have been running premium fuel in my 09 RTX and have seen a lot of Nytros fill up on regular fuel. I was wondering if I am just wasting money on the good stuff and if there is a downside to using regular……. minus 41c with windchill tonight. YIPEE!!!!

Yamaheaters all the way! I ride in Manitoba , lots of -20 to -30C , and I always have to run them at about 3/4's to keep my hands from getting to hot … on a -10C day I have to turn them down … Nothing wrecks a ride like cold hands….spend the money , you won't be disappointed.

I did a powder trip last year with my 09RTX ..but put a double black screen on the vent on the clutch cover , just tie wrapped it on and haven't had a slipping belt since. I also did all the air vents on the shroud and have never had snow up top since….easy and cheap and you can't tell when...
Thanks…do you carry the starter safety switch for the Nytro…my starter stuck last year and burned out , it was a bad relay , but still cost a fortune to fix.
If you are buying Yamaha parts go to www.yamahapartsnation.com and you can look the numbers up. Their prices are pretty good too , don't know if they are the cheapest though.
