No not yet. I was going to see how it runs on the snow and if it’s starving I’m gonna do the mod. I can definitely see the need for it.
I’ll attach a picture of the part numbers that was shared to me of the grommet and check valve if anyone is looking to do the mod.
Just in case someone runs into a similar problem this is what I found. It was a combination of things. I had the back end of the sled up prob under 3 gallons of gas in the tank when I started it and it starved for fuel then got air in the lines and horn.
I put it down and put 3/4 of a tank...
I’ve got a new to me 17 Winder RTX so I don’t really know the history on it but it ran good when I bought it and brought it home. I went to start it the other day and it started then stalled and when I tried to start it again it just sputters and die. Did all the simple checks and the spark...
Hahaha no kidding, I guarantee the last one yamaha would have sold would have been under warranty lol. Tom and Travis would you guys mind pm me what you would want to get for yours. It really sucks as a Canadian these days with exchange, shipping and import charges. Just really isn't cost...
I went to replace the exhaust donuts on the apex and one of the flanges on the exup pipe is broken. Yamaha wants 7000$ CAD for a new one hahaha common who's gonna pay that. Has anyone seen any aftermarket options for the pipe? Or even the front flange so a guy could weld it in?
I've got a 2011 apex xtx. Has anyone replaced the stock Yamaha primary weight bushing with aftermarket ones? If so do you have a part number or link by chance? I may just install Yamaha factory ones part number 90386-08002 as I don't seem to see any aftermarket options. Just though I would...
UPDATE: Hindle does have replacement packing for the Hurrican Hindle muffler. The part number is MPOV12MX and cost 44$ CAN. The part number isn't on their website but they were very good to deal with on the phone. The kit comes with the replacement rivet and drill bit to remove the old...
I have a hurricane hindle muffler on my 2017 sidewinder and it seems to be getting quite a bit louder and droney. Has anyone replaced the packing and is there a direct replacement muffler packing and rivet kit available for them?
UPDATE: Hindle does have replacement packing for the Hurrican...
Had a bad day on the Sidewinder, First blew a belt (8jp had 800 miles on it) that broke my lower Panel right in front of the primary. (had a belly pan protector). Go home to grab another belt to continue on the ride. Turned up the tune cause I figured belly pan is busted anyway. Later that...
I had put a stock dx windshield on my XTX viper. It wasn’t much to look at but was nice to have for those -30c long rides. It measured 30 inches across at the bottom flares and was 22 inches high. I’m wondering if there is an option like this for the Sidewinder?
The tall windshield option...
The chip I was referring to was on the spline to the left of the Index splines. I'm not going to lie when I first saw the index splines I shat my pants a little but then after looking at it it was too clean to be broken. I cleaned up the end of the chipped spline, pressed off the stub shaft...
I’ve got it apart now does it look like it moved?
There is no way to press out the bearing on the outside race. If you press out using the inside race would that put too much stress on the bearing?
Also the last picture there is a chip on the end of one of the splines. The chipped piece...
Thanks for the info Knapp, I'll attach some pics but It looks like it did move in to me. Also looks like the clutch was not properly torqued down and spun on the shaft at some time.
I purchased a 2017 Sidewinder xtx Le this fall with 1000 miles on it and noticed it had some belt fragments in the belly pan so I ordered a offset tool from hurricane to check alignment. Have a couple questions for the people that have used the tool. I'll add pictures at the bottom of the post...
Has anyone tried mounting a Auxiliary fuel tank off a stock dx viper onto an xtx? Does Yamaha offer this as an option? Could a guy just buy the stock tank and parts and mount it or does it have to be used in conjunction with the hard storage box it comes with to tie it down? I like the idea...
I was thinking of a switch like that to switch from 5 lbs boost to 0 if you hit the switch. Be like turning it back to naturally aspirated till you get better fuel but that just sounds too simple lol Even if it was a manual boost controller that you could plumb in and have access to it.
