Anyone have thoughts about the new dual runner skis available from Yamaha and what kind of runners/carbides would be recommended. I've got 5.7 pilots on my Attak and it pushes in the corners, not bad, but bothersome. Just wondering if these new skis will eliminate the dart and push.
I've got a 2006 Apex GT one of my buddies rolled and bent the step up slightly at the rear of the sled. We'll have to order a new heat exchanger since it busted out the rivets and separated and wondered if anyone knows a good way to bend the foot rest back to flat.
Thanks for any info
On our 2006 Apex GT it seems to be taking quite a bit longer for the temp light to go out after starting and it comes on sometimes at idle for just a minute. Does this mean our antifreeze level is low or is there something else I need to look for?
Thanks,
Exhaust
Had the same problem on both my 06 Apex machines. Drilled out the 10 rivets which hold the bracket for the pipes, slid back the exhaust/muffler, replaced the donuts pushed back the pipes, reclamped, and re-revited. Works just fine.
Donuts
I just replaced them in both our 06 ER and 06 GT with 3450 and 4300 miles respectively. Heard funny sound when cold on start up. Both left sides were toast and right was pretty much OK but replaced all 4 anyway. Had to drill out the rivets holding the Y pipe brackets. WE could only...
Bulkhead
I did the same thing first time out this season on a rock under the snow. We welded the bulkhead and it works fine, maybe stronger than original. You have to get with a real good welder, the one I used is a sledder and has experience with these types of fixes. Then we bought new...
We started experiencing problems with engaging the reverse on our 06 Apex ER. It grinds and clunks and pops out to neutral. Is there an adjustment we can do so it engages properly?
Thanks,
Old People Sleds
I've heard the same things about Yammies and particularly Apex's. However, I ride with quite a few 30 and 40 year olds and keep right up with them on their Doo's, Cat's and Poo's. At my age I'm not as quick and fast as I used to be but can still hold my own.
Apex's
We have now converted our entire stable to Apex's. 06 GT, 06 ER, 07 RTX and 07 Attak GT. How nice is it to start all 4 sleds in the enclosed trailer and not choke on 2 stroke smokers. The EFI can't be beat, the power, ride and handling (once dialed in) is the best of the best. With a...
I bought a used 07 Attak GT and found the left side pin, located below the gas tank cap, which holds the side panel in place has been broken off. This is our 4th Apex type machine and I've never heard of this before. Does anyone know if there is a fix or do you have to buy a new tank cover...
My sledmates keep telling me they smell burning rubber when they ride behind me. I've got a 2007 Attak GT with a FIX Powersports clutch kit. It seems to only happen on fairly high speed runs for some distance not when riding trails. I believe it's the belt and am concerned they may be wearing...
I just bought a 2007 Attak GT that they did clutch work on. I called and found out they put in CR10ek plugs and worked the primary and secondary as well as a spped ring on the secondary. Has anyone had experience with their set up? Any info on what to expect would be appreciated.
I may have a chance to swap the GYTR's out with someone who wants a pair and get their Fox Floats. Does anyone know if this would be a problem to put Floats on the GT? I think they're great on my RTX but with the different skids wondered if there would be any issues.
Thanks,
Belts
I've tried Dayco, Carlisle and a couple of others but always go back to OEM. My dealer usually sells them to me for around $65 plus tax which is close to $70 total. They last almost two seasons since I put on about 15oo miles a year. I install the new one and keep the best used as a...
I just bought one and don't know the first thing about setting up the suspesion. I've got an Apex GT so I know the rear shock is adjustable on the fly but the fronts and other settings are unknown to me for the long track. I weight about 225 without gear, ride fairly agressively on the...
Stolen Sled
If possible you might want to post pics on this site and several others since most of us know units and might be able to spot them in our travels.
Hope you're insurance takes care of you and find the SOB's.
