My 07' RTX is currently at the dealer for this problem Apprx. 3700 miles on the sled .....have a warrenty by Western Warrenty Service .....they won't cover it but Yamaha is covering the bill under there 30 month emission warrenty ....never heard of it but no complaints here as long as they replace all bad parts and dos'nt cost me ne more coin out of pocket should have my companion back for the weekend ..... the service manager at my dealer told me the most popular reason for the donut and y pipe problem is holding the throttle open to much and to often .... ha what a line of BS ( Its a high performance sled how are u supposed to ride it ? Get real ! )

Mine only lasted 3000 miles and had to be replaced last season the sled wasn't even a year old yet! , not much better than previous models '06 or '07 but the sagging part should be fine with the extra centre support...

Are the RX1 y pipes the same? Are they better?

Some good news, but I'd be afraid to weld to the exhaust tube anyway. I'd worry about it developing a crack at the new weld.BETHEVIPER said:the muffler is not titanium, just the y pipes. muffler and headers are just stainless.

So far this year I've added another 1500 miles since and did the "PLUG" the exhaust test while running and seems fine so far...
YAM were puzzled to see it fail so soon...so maybe I had a bad batch of DONUTS!!! LOL with my luck, I think they used TIM HORTON'S donuts this time made in CANADA

7500 miles and heard an exhaust leak under the tunnel and it was the right two donuts. Replaced them all.

I've got a steelworker here who builds race cars on the side and he says no problem welding titanium. Just needs to be the right wire, TIG, and very clean. Holds great. They use titanium here at work in some of the Large Turbines.
Same guy who welded the RX bulkhead. He is just south of Amsterdam, NY, for any NY guys needing special welding.
hi guys just a heads up MBRP are manufacturing these y pipes and are made of stainless and a fraction of the cost of Yamahas

Thanks for the heads up because both of my y-pipes are worn thru were the clamps goes on. I ran my sled with too many miles with donuts completly gone, every clamp was loose. I knew they were worn out, i just couldnt get the parts because they were back ordered.

Mine is currently at the dealer 4K miles and all are shot, replacing under warranty, Thanks to the awesome guys at Cycle Sport Yamaha!

I just replaced them in both our 06 ER and 06 GT with 3450 and 4300 miles respectively. Heard funny sound when cold on start up. Both left sides were toast and right was pretty much OK but replaced all 4 anyway. Had to drill out the rivets holding the Y pipe brackets. WE could only get one bolt out of four to back out.
Glad we did them and the 07 Attak will be done this spring. Pipes were fine and thanks to all on this site who gave us the heads up on the issue.
Once my buddy helped me get one done in 2 hours it's not so bad but damn it doesn't seem right to have to perform this maintenance on such a fine sled. Anyway, we'll probably do them every 3000 miles just to be sure.

It seems that it is mostly the left side with every one my 06 included. I wonder if it is from the motor torquing from belt pull, Even though the motor is quite solidly mounted? Thought's, kviper

My donuts went, and the gasket on the cylinder head. Both pipes on the left side. dealer did donuts last year and didn't replace the exhaust gasket. I'll be doing my own from now on

Thinking along the same lines. After I'm out of warranty I might fab up something. Rather than buy an 08 muffler to get one with a center mount, I'd get a piece of exhaust pipe, cut it in half to make a saddle for the titanium pipe to lay on then weld a flat piece of metal between the halfs. Drill a hole in the center. Then I'd buy the Yamaha parts #51-54, 24, 26 and rivet them to the tunnel and bolt my new bracket thru the hole while under the exhaust pipes to support them. It would keep the pipes from dropping down.. hose clamps would keep it from bouncing up. they might slip enough as the exhaust expands and contracts from heat too. The stock Dampers would keep some of the vibration out of the tunnel.
I don't think I can weld a mount to factory the titanium muffler so this saddle idea is my first thought..

The support doesnt really raise it, but just keeps it from sagging, so there is no contact anywhere, besides on the plate, and even then, the only contact is between the clamps and plate.
My tunnel protectors were totally secure and strong, and I tested them in everyway after all the hype here on ty. Even after 1500kms on this plate, I am having no problems.
As for your support, just make sure that it wont ever come loose and get thrown up in the track, this will cause an imense amount of damage!

i think i may be a victim of this too. does it sound like a chugging, or valve train? or like something is vibrating under the tunnel? the sound does come and go though, but is starting to be more persistant. that would figure, fuel pump relay, and now this in a matter of 3 days. not bad for an 07 with 2700 miles...... makes you wonder why you pay $10,000 for a sled
