I have a Apex mnt with a 100 miles on it.
On my 1st ride I notice more chain case whine when letting off the throttle then my RX1 had. Next day before my 2nd time out with my new sled I loosened up the chain case adjuster lock nut and very easily hand tightened the adjuster bolt in 3 or 4...
I did the 04/05 upgrade last week on my 03 mtn. Yes there is a washer spacer between the circlip and the chain case bearing. You can most likely find your's by fishing it out with a magnet pen in the space between the secondary and chaincase.
Trxster,
I have independent confirmation your sled is working well. MDD, aka "The Mayor",from the Snowest forum called me today to tell me how yesterdays Mt Baker ride went and he mentioned your RX1 went everywhere pretty good. This coming from MDD who is a 2-stroke fan is quite a compliment.
If you need to buy new. Do what I did, get a Polaris P-85.

Works great and does not clang at idle like your 03 primary does.
Yes, You have your finger on it. The fuel in the float bowls will go stale after a few weeks. The lighter more volatile elements in the fuel evaporate out the vents in the carbs. Hopefully fuel injection on the new sleds will make this a non issue.
Yes, I had that happen, almost impossible to keep the coolant level at the cool coolant line on the reservoir. The solution is to keep the water temp cooler by installing the 05 rear heat exchanger.
Looks like the best price and quality option for us 03 or 04 Mtn owners.
Question, does it have zerks for greasing and are real limiter straps like the mountain performance transfer kit required?
Anyone know if the oil filter is easier to get to on the 06 models?
I see the side panels will have a quick release system. This is good, much nicer then all the Phillip screws having to be dealt with to get to the oil tank
The photos on yamaha's website show a very different battery...
Did all of you guys just get back on the sleds from taking a break? If so I'd say your fuel pumps got too warm and vapor locked. The progress you made up the hill before the sleds acted up was mostly courtesy of the fuel in the float bowls.
Remember the fuel lines pass a few inches over the...
Yes bolt on. I got my p85 from Hartman Inc. His kit had a plastic spacer that fit under the bolt that holds the clutch on and acts to partially keep the movable sleeve closed abit. I think it compensates for the yamaha belt being a little narrower then the Polaris belt. For a starting weight and...
That YES warranty is worth something after all. Yamaha is replacing all my plug caps. Just picked up 4 of them up at the dealer. $77.00 per cap retail, for me, $0.00. Now we just need some snow in Washington.
Speed after 1000 feet is 126mph.

m = 318.18 RX-1 mass in (kg) (tank full and 2 beers under tool kit)

Trxster, I bought the 38 inch blue powder coat cromoly arms last month which mountain performance sells. Haven’t had the chance to use them yet but I weigh them and can attest they weigh 7 pounds less then the 03 mtn arms.
Quality seems fine on them. Although they come with new bushings in...
Fired my 03 RX-1 mtn for the 1st time since April last night. While cranking it over for almost a minute until it primed up and started I noticed spark arcing around a couple of the spark plug boots and the valve cover.
I Popped off the plug boot and inspected the part that contacts the tip...
I just got back from my local dealer and tried to order the throttle cable from the 05 RX1 Mtn. He had the Fich but he says it's not available yet. Did not have the price in the computer but the part# is 8FW-26311-00-00.
I like the sound of the 05 mtn handlebars. Taller, wider, flater and better mtn strap. Considering buying a set for my 03 mtn. Bars not showing in Yamaha parts fich yet and I can't find a 05 mtn sitting on any dealers floor to take a look at.
Any buddy own a 05 mtn or sat on one to give an...
