I was doing some patent and trademark searches last month. Found on trademarkia.com that Yamaha had trademarked both SRViper and SRVenom last year(2012). I'm guessing the SRVenom name will appear next February in the 2015 sled release. Hopefully a Yamaha built sled! Also, I found this patent...
Are your slides worn through or just showing wear? Mine wore down fast in the first couple hundred miles but I left them on there. I finally changed them at 3,000 miles, just because. They could have gone more. Yamaha's slides seem to burn down fast to a certain point and then wear like iron...
My 07 fx was pretty tippy in the corners so i did a little research on the sway bar. It comes stock with a 13mm bar. The MTX comes with a 14mm bar. Just order the sway bar and mounting bushings for the MTX, swap it out on your FX/RTX and you will love the results! Worked wonders for the...
leave the bearing on the shaft for now. use a sharp chisel and cut the mushroomed side of the rivets(the side you can see in your pic) off with a couple of blows. this will release your inner bearing retainer so you can pull the drive shaft out and remove the bearing on the bench. do not use a...
if you have the j-hook bars you will need to get new handwarmers. use some aftermarket warmers, like hotgrips, and wire them up to your stock wiring harness so you can still use the toggle controls for heat. the stock warmers on the j bars are a "tape" heater that is next to impossible to...
i have seen one failure and it was due to the factory mistiming the shift arm on the actuator. it is no big deal to take apart, it just takes patience. you will have to pull the exhaust off to get the shaft to come up and out. it is tight but it will work. the one i saw fail would skip under...
look closely at the frame work just ahead of the oil tank. on this one i am looking at the bracket for the "old" style oil tank was cut off and the small piece was left bolted to the frame.
i got the chance to ride the SE last april. i was riding an 08 40th nytro all season. i was blown away with the suspension on the SE. i would spend the $500.00 in a heartbeat! i put about 150 miles on that SE and when i got back on my 40th i was bummin'.
yamaha is offering a front-end upgrade kit for the 08 nytro's. check with your dealer but i think it retails for around $700.00. can't trade up for that kind of money.
keep in mind the new gen vk's do not have a sway bar on them. there are provisions for one but the frame is wider than the rx/rs models so you will have to find your own bar.
just drill the heads off the rivets with a 3/16" drill bit. be sure to use a drill stop so your sled doesn't bleed green! a hand held rivet gun will work just fine. you might have to remove the grab bar to access the rivets.
i know the differances! the 07's had the hinged, flip up hoods, and the 08's had the quick release hood that took you to nowhere. the sled is the 08 chassis with an 07 vin but i am sure it is a pre-pro model. the left hand plastic was changed from the apex to the vector to match the clutch...
i was at my local dealer in caribou and he had an 07 vector i was interested in. heres the deal, he says it is an 07 but it looks like an 08 because it is rider forward like the apex. it has glossy finish on the left hand panels and the dash piece behind the speedo. the parts look like the...
