I'll be on my 3rd battery when this one gets replaced today. Two years and 3 batteries? I had to foot the bill for all sorts of handwarming options on this sled (hundreds of $$) and now batteries. Good thing I purchased the extended warranty, or not. 1800 miles on the sled. I would think...
It seems Yamaha has already done their homework on the cost of remedies to these issues versus any negative impacts of not doing anything. That's part of their business and so be it.
I will say this about my 08 Nytro - it had a lot of problems, but the dealer stepped up way beyond what...
Last spring I called Yamaha about the handwarmer issue. They said they were aware of the issue and were working on a fix for the 2008 models and it should be out for next fall. I called for an update and there is no solution by Yamaha other than to purchase more products from their...
You are correct, talked with Yamaha and they know there are issues. They quickly moved away from this 08 design. They say the handwarmers will be fixed in '09 and for '08 models with issues. As for the front end, no decision yet.
I tried a few things, but in the end I can only hope Yamaha comes with a fix to this. Many have told me not to hold my breath because they will not. In the meantime, the gauntlets are a must to retain the little heat coming off of these inconsistent 'warmers'.
I'm not too dissappointed because I didn't expect much to change.
They did change the front geometry, which I have to wonder if it will translate to an option to replace the '08. (if it will even fit) And will the new geometry make its way to the fx and rtx for 09?
Still no user storage...
I agree with the safety issue with the gauntlets - especially the ones I use. I hate using them as it feels like your hands are handcuffed to the handlebars.
I may check out the PowerMadd gauntlets as they at least seem to open up much better and should allow the hands to get in and out...
To correct you, I don't have an issue with my a-arms or subframe, others are. I do have a concern that if there is a design issue that it may be in the sled I ride. Look through the posts. The problem with my sled right now is electrical and Yamaha has no fix.
Also, to say just because...
I must have missed the part in the sales brochure that said this $10k sled was not tested properly and I was to assist in this process. I'll certainly bring this up with my dealer as to why I was not informed that I should expect problems.
I fully understand testing production sleds in the...
The brake is another of many issues with the electrical system and handwarmers. My sled was run through a battery of tests and the guys found multiple other issues related to this. It will be interesting to see if Yamaha comes to the same conclusion for a fix.
Tried it, doesn't help when it gets cold and the handwarmers don't work. The heat has to be there first. I'm riding with gauntlets, hot packs and different handguards.
Sad to say, but you guys are probably going to have to drop a few bucks on fixing it yourself if you want to ride without...
I noticed this big time yesterday. It sounds like it's coming from under the gas tank area, kind of like a big ice grinder on deceleration. I found that working the the throttle a little on decel into a stop helps reduce this noise rather than letting the flipper fly. Still, I'd like to find...
Under 700 miles and slides are toasted. I've never replaced slides under 2000 miles, and when I did they were still in good shape. Put a new set on this last weekend and doubt I'll get 700 miles out of this set either. Also to note, the slides on this nytro wore as uneven as anything I've seen.
I know this first hand too, but why wouldn't it shut down beyond idle for self preservation?
So then it would also shut down when it gets too hot on the trail....meltdown?
Get the front end off the ground and check the slop between some of these parts, movement of a-arms from front to back. Lift the front of your skis and see what gives when the top of that spindle twists towards the back end of your sled. A riding bud showed me how much his nytros top a-arms...
I have a four gallon garbage can and over filled it two and a half times with ice chunks from the build up. Add a ten pound fix to this and it will result in a 20+lb net weight savings. Of course this would never happen because the added ten pounds wouldn't look good in a sales brochure or...
He must have hit that bar doing 50mph, and with 800 lbs of weight behind it, something has to give. He was probably coming down from a ten foot jump doing a nose dive too!! I can't believe that story. Is he looking for some free parts from Yamaha because he doesn't have insurance? Probably...
