saway bar

bigger bar
it is most deffently worth changeing to a larger bar on an 03 . i went that route and did the 2.3 front springs as well as the 12 mm bar. this made a big differnce. ;)!
shaft

dont forget to pull those little rubber boots off the ends and clean up inside as well to get rid of all that carbon trace. i even put a little silcone on the rubber boots be for putting them back on to seal them i found that i slows the trace from coming down in side of the boots.
belt side clerance

side clerance
i set mine to .015-.020 tho as i have found that thats what has worked for me in the past and it works well for my rx 1 as well. mine came with over.080 and it would blow the track out from under me all the time. after ajusting it down not a problem. ;)! . try the new belt first...

dont forget you are not geting 4000 rpm at your clutch thats only moter rpm the clutch rpm is lower due to the gear reduction built in to the moter .
teeth
its a simple two min job 1- 14 mm socket remove the one bolt holding the gear in place and it will come off with the bolt then useing a dremel cut two teeth of(one from each side) then reinstall the gear.
back fire
a back fire is usaly a sign of to lean of a mixture. try cleaning your pilot jets. others and my self have found that the 03 were to lean. 17.5 pilot jets are stock i went to # 20 pilots and 137.5 mains. by going to the lager pilots you mite not have to blip the throtale on start up.
bearing

sounds like your t.r.o.s is ativated. try by passing it by unpluging the switch and joining the two wires to gether. or check the throtale block the switch inside mite be frozzen. and can be thawed out with a hair dryer. ;)!
