02' SRX vs. 06' ATTAK......

01 SRX is a top end lake runner. They can be made to go 119ish on hard pack with minimal tweaking.I can,t even see an Apex shortie doing that on GPS or radar.

The trail 8 intersection @ H58 I saw 108 (speedo) on hard packed trail on my Attak.

If you are only getting to 108 on the speedo on your Attak, something is not right. Maybe you just need some more miles. You should definitlely be 120 plus on the speedo.

I have not held the Attak wide open any longer than the 108 mark. It had more I'm sure.

Again just to set the record straight. I am not complaining here I am just stating what happened on my ride. Riding both sleds and based on how I ride, The Attak/Apex is awesome.

I'm coming off an 01 SRX and I would not be the least bit upset if I got beat up by one on my new Attak. Everybody who has ever had one knows that they are absolute freaks of nature. I never lost a race to another brand. I had a lot of people talk a lot of smack, but when the end of the lake came I was always out front. As for my Attak. I know it will smack dab an SRX if you are running in any depth of snow. I just won't race an SRX on the hard pack and expect to win. Maybe I'll be pleasently surprized. ;)!

I'm no SRX fan but....SRX's go 120..easy..RX/Warrior's don't without a turbo. SRX's are quick and faster in short distances (hands down) then a RX/warrior...this is a fact..not speculation. The Apex on the otherhand...well, it looks like this will be a 120mph sled and so far it is just as fast on the grass!! I doubt the Attack will run with the SRX due to the big track.

All that AND the APEX/Attack is way cooler/better/more versitile then the SRX. The SRX is a lake sled..the Apex is now right with it on the lake and you can hit a bump and not break the rear skid!! OR..you can go off trail and not be scared of never seeing you sled again lol.

I ride a 2001 SRX and have waited 5 years for Yamaha to make a sled to beat the SRX on the ice. So far I have not seen any that are really close. Just maybe the Apex is the sled but not sure

DocktorC you the nail on the head!It look's like yamaha finally found something to compte with the srx on the lakes and be better on the trails.

I also have an SRX. If it wasn’t for the low profile design with minimal suspension travel, it wouldn’t have the edge everyone speaks of. Not to mention its fast low profile stock track. As soon as you throw an m-10 in an SRX, there goes its speed advantage. My Apex sits twice as high as my SRX and does everything better with exceptional comfort. Something that I’ve been always looking for in my Yamaha’s and now finally have my cake and eat it too.
Many could recall when the long travel suspension craze hit back in the later 90's when all OEMs had a version of long travel skids. Speed was effected at the same time as much as 5-10 mph on some sleds.
One can easily lower and tie down an Apex for racing, but its hard to set up an SRX for a bumpy trail. I guess its all about compromise on where you want to excel in. Yeah the SRX is fast, but there is no magic HP! I’ll dust my SRX once a month just because it will be a collectors sled in the future. 8)

Well said dano...

One of the guys I ride with all the time has an 01 SRX and I love having it around. No one you meet says much negative about yamaha because they know it'll hand them their #*$&@. It's like having a big freind :). I'm sure that role will be taken over by the Apex....

I won,t even comment about this race. No brainer!!The 2002 srx vs the appex gt will be alittle more intresting !! 3:16 (tony)

I don't think that my stock 00 700SRX would have run with a stock RX-1. If you remember Yamaha in 03, (as the story went) the stock RX-1 would outrun the 02 700SRX by 4-5 sled lenghts in a 1/4 mile. Yes, that was their online claim and I agree with that, but do a little to the SRX and {voila} it runs with the bigger CC sleds. It doesn't take much to wake up an SRX, a Bender can, cold air kit and clutching or you could have some of the hidden mods done like gutted stock exhaust with head mods and clutching !! So look a little closer at this STOCK SRX and you may or may not find some mods. All in all I do agree with those who claim that they are one fast sled, but stock for stock against an APEX ?????

Motorhead it's well known how well the SRX faired against any stock RX lol. You don't need to do anything to an SRX..they're fast..because they are low and designed from the beginning to be a giant killer.

I WELCOME A RACE AGAINST ANY 4 STROKE WITH EITHER OF MY SRX,s!! RX-1, ECP KITS , DEEP LUG TRACKS , WHATEVER MY 02 SRX EATS THEM. BEEN THERE DONE THAT. BRING ON A APPEX GT!! 3:16 (tony)

Interesting thread going on here, 2 stroke vs 4. Don't we all have blue blood here? I think that history and records from sanctioned races tells the story. The stock SRX (2000 and up)should (will) still take the new 4 strokes in either a short or long run. SRX will run high teens on the gun with nothing but normal clutch tuning. If you put a 1" track on an Apex and slam it down to the ice I would expect it to run that fast as well, just not as quick. Yea I ride an SRX, don't have the money for the Apex right now but when I do get one I'll be keeping the SRX. Had too much fun spankin those DOO 1000's with it last year...... :tg:
