Alright guys, new member here looking at a 2004 RX-1 ER. I haven't looked at the sled in person yet but plan to in the coming days and need to know what to look for and some pros and cons of the sled. It will be a big improvement for me either way as I am coming from an Arctic Cat ZR 600. The sled has 8500mi, which is high for a two stroke, but for a four stroke it still has half its life left, right? The sled is listed for $3900, is it high, low, what's the price range for this sled with this many miles. All input is very much appreciated. Sorry if this post is similar to others, I did do a search and didn't find what I was looking for. Thanks guys!!

check the front end carefully for damage, eg. both ski tips even at the front, not one ahead of the other. check bellypan for damage, shocks spaced evenly between a arms. check suspension for cracked or broken w arm. the motor should not be an issue. if it has studs check inside tunnel and front heat exchanger for damage or repairs.

check plugs, compression if allowed, bearing behind secondary and bearing behind the speed sensor if these bearings are dry it will be a good example of the maintenance this sled has or has not had.Check all wheels and hyfax as you will be changing if worn, check all fluids escpecially the color of the oil then adjust the price accordingly to what it needs then make offer.

What about price, taking that everything looks good, is $3900 ballpark for one in decent shape? What color should the oil be, I know it depends on when the last oil change was, but should the oil be a gold color as if it were newer or a darker color. I know it shouldn't be too dark... Anything else to look for, I know the w-block and the drive shaft and jack shaft bearings are the big ones. Thanks for all the replies.
