Some feedback on the first ride with Bergstrom 6 inch triple points. Went from pushing in the corners to tracking like on rails, while steering effort at low speed is good.
Had 4 inch Qualipieces dual carbides on fully stock yamaha 04 Warrior. Fra on high and clicker out full soft, limiter 3/4 inch threads showing on top. Weight trans rod middle weight transf line, center shock stock setting. Front preload was as far as I could go to add preload, most pressure on ski. Old skegs were easy to steer but pushed in corners, no bite on ice after 500 km. New Bergstrom skeg installed easily w shim and ski savers.
Guessed I'd be getting much more bite so backed off the pre-load, lowered the front. I backed off preload until spring loose, front end in the air. About 16 threads showing above both rings. Added 2 threads, to start testing, at 18 showing. Stance now has A arms flat horizontal. Test conditions -10C hard pack and ice, trails only. Ski's bite like on rails, steering effort a little more but very comfortable. No darting and easily steered one hand at speed. With ski bite, inside ski lift is back but I like it that way. Could float inside ski just above snow. With the excellent outside ski bite, tail is loose, but again as I like it. I don't have studs.
Love the handling, getting confident again in the corners, zero push even on acceleration, if outside ski weighted. I let the outside ski take the weight as I enter the corner, once it starts the dig and weight transfers to the outside ski, use the body inside to keep the inside ski lift just grazing the snow. Once I figured that technique out, corners like a go-kart. Can't wait to try in the deeper soft stuff. Best purchase in a while.
Thanks to Clark Wilson in Canada and Scott Bergstrom, for the great product for this "special" sled, and excellent customer service, border crossing, and installation advice over the phone. And, solving for me the debate duallies vs. single runners. This setup is the perfect balance.
Note that Scott ships the runners with the ski shims and the ski savers included. The shims need a bit of shaving to allow fit, and ski savers work to eliminate darting with the shims. No darting on the test ride, nice!
