My daughter has an 04 Warrior and this weekend after about 80 miles the headlight went out. Tried high and low beam , no light. Got the sled home and found a blown fuse. Replaced the fuse and light is now on. Both high and low beams work. Any ideas what would have caused the fuse to blow. Sled has 2600 miles and has never had any problems with anything. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks Combat :yam:

Could have been a bad fuse or corrosion in the fuse holder itself. But, if it happens again, I would check the wiring for a short. Was the sled riding in deep power? Maybe water caused a short.

I had this exact issue last year.. turned out to be a bad relay.

If the fuse blows again, then maybe look at the relay.

Don't have any extra stuuf (like a heated shield) tacked on the circuit do you?

Len: I had a heated shield outlet installed this fall. It comes out from under the padded steering cover. I'll look to see where they wired it into. As for deep snow, no. We were on groomed trails with some snow dust. I didn't see much dust arond the dash board area however. Going to ride this weekend so we'll see what happens. Thanks Combat

Heated shields need to go direct to the battery or at the very least, the jumper cables, with a fuse as close to the power source as possible.

Len: We went out saturday and put on 65 miles without a hitch. Light shines brite. I took the padded cover off and the single black wire goes down the bulk head behind the motor, assume it is headed for the battery, The same shop wired my 05 Rage and I have never had a problem. I guess at this point it was a fluke. Have you ever heard of di-electric grease? A friend told me it is good for trailer hitch wiring to keep the connection good while preventing corrosion. I thought about putting some of that on the fuses to help with contact and to fight corrosion. Any thoughts? Thank you for all the knowledge. Totally Yamaha is a great buch of guys with a vast wealth of knowledge. What a great resource. Thanks again . Combat

I typically do not use the dielectric grease, except on spark plugs. Others have reported using it to prevent corrosion and water intrusion. But, my motto is: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
