I was gone on a trip last week with some friends and one guy had a 06 Swithchback with studs.During the trip he blew a belt.He told me he has blown 6 belts already! Now to the race--I was riding in a line behind our leader on this long road. I looked back and could see the Switchback coming up wide open so I put the hammer down as he passed me.I reeled him in and then we were side by side. I started to pull ahead and then he stopped suddenly. He blew yet another belt , but this time it blew a hole about 7 inches in diameter in the side of his belly pan.He wasn't impressed as he went back to the camp.So the winner is not really clear,I'll have him a rematch later and let you know.(If he can stay together that long)

06 Switchback=800 miles-7 belts@ $130.00
04 Warrior=5134 miles- original belt :yam:

Ive heard nothing but horror stories on the newer Polaris's

My uncle use to buy a new polaris every year tell 4 years ago #*$&@ was breaking all the time and he said bye bye and now thing he is looking at that venture the RX-1 but touring one

What size this switchback was 600/900? i guest it was a 900 i'v never heard any problems of broken belt on the smaller 600 who by the way could give you a run for your money i raced against a '07 iq 600 last night(yes we got some '07 demo in quebec)and after a drag race of quarter mile he pulled away by 6 lenght over my '04 rx-1. i was really surprised how this motor pull. i put my gps in my pocket and i registered an impressive 112mph on hard pack snow not bad for a 120 hp sled

The Switchback was a 900 and I did get a new belt. I've heard people going 8000 miles on the same belt with a RX-1 or a Warrior. With the new belt on I can't really tell the difference in performance from the old one.I guess it's piece of mind. :yam:

:die Polaris 900 Switchback

highmiler on this forum has 13,000 miles+ and counting on the belt on an 03 mountain! his switchback riding buddy cannot believe this cause he blows belts like the guy in first post!

Tell your buddy to go do a switchout to an articat turbo belt. His problems will go away. Not sure why but I have heard that from several people that the articat belt is doing way better holding up to the punishment that the polaris belt can't take.
