went for a ride yesterday and after about 30 miles it started acting up. i was riding at a constant speed of roughly 40-50 mph when i slowed down to cross a road. on the other side i started to accelerate and i could get above 30 mph and roughly 7500 rpm? it would run fine on low revs but once i would try to accelerate it would bog down. let the sled sit a couple hours while i went to get the truck and when i loaded it up it seemed to run fine? is there a throttle safety switch? was it in a limp mode? havnt had time to look at plugs or anything else on the sled, probably wont until this weekend. looking for ideas to stress my out until then. new to the 4 strokes this year and i hope the outcome wont be severe. then to top it off i tried to put it in reverse before i put it on the trailer and the reverse handle snapped off? no excessive force was applied. i have an 8 day trip planned in Feb so i need to get all the bugs worked out.

It might have been the TORS.

is there anyway to trouble shoot this? what would need to be replaced? lets say the next time i take it out it runs fine but i dont run it long enough for it to act up and then the next time i go on a trip it acts up and i have 7 days left on the trip. is there a way to by-pass tors if it happens again on the trail? sorry for all the questions, new four stroke owner

the same thing happened to me the first year i had my warrior,04,it wouldnt rev more than 8k and would not idle, dealer checked everything with no luck, did that twice that season and never done it again with 10 000 miles on it,i had played with the tors but that wasnt it,i think it was bad fuel or some dirt that went thru the carbs and stayed there for a while then cleared

Adjust the TORS per the Operator Manual and you won't have a problem in the field. If you can not do this yourself, take it back to the dealer. Once it is right, you will probably never need to adjust it again.

TORS kicks in and holds the engine to 2800-3000 rpm why would it allow 7500 but no more?

Were you in a lot of deep snow and are you running filters or stock air box? I had the EXACT same thing happen to me yesterday but it was because I run filters and plugged them solid when busting through some drifts.

If it is TORS I would like to know that as well. there is a bypass not sure which to wires on the RX I knew my viper but not this one.

i was running through some deep powder earlier in the day, parked it for about an hour and then went riding again. this time it wasnt in that deep of snow and about 5-10 miles down the road it started acting up. i am running the stock airbox.

Pop the air box cover off and make sure its clean in there and take it out again and see if it happens. If not it very well may have been clogged under neath where it sucks in air.

its worth a shot, thanks. there wont be anything left in there if it was clogged. its been sitting in a heated garage since monday. i am going to check the plugs and take it out on sat. to see what happens

Well if you take it out and runs fine then that was probably your problem. I'm not sure how the moutain guys run these sleds and not have this happen. Especially if your running the stock air box, mine with filters is easy to see. Let us know. If not I'll try to find some posts on here to see where the TORS bypass is and at least you could test that.

thanks kinger, it looks like there is a connection near the handle bar pad that can be disconnected for tors. hopefully it was just clogged with snow. wondering how it would run fine while going through the snow and then when i was running in normal conditions and not breaking through drifts it would act up miles down the road?

With mine (again different then your stock air box) the snow filled it and when it started melting is when it acted up, about 3-4 miles down the road from where I was playing in the deep.
For TORS find the wires (under the handle bar I beleive and just connect them together then you'll know if thats it.

TORS

To disconnect the TORS just unplug it down by the carbs and plug the wires going to the carbs back into themselves. You don't have to do anything with the wires coming from the carbs.

problem solved. I ended up taking the air filter out and it was completely iced over. Yesterday i went out and put on roughly 50 miles with no issues
