I ahve about the same mileage and I am heading out on a long trip next week.
What's involved in inspecting that drive axle bearing?
I am curious. I bought a needle greaser just in case but I am leary of taking the seal off. Does it go back on OK?
use some eyeglass screw driver and use the small flat pointy one on the set and it will pop right out if you push then pry from the outer diameter...wash out the bearing with starting fluid since this cuts the grease the best, then blow out all the old grease(if any)and repeat this 3-4 times then use w-d40 the last time then push a good quality synthetic high temp grease with your thumbs...push seal in with alittle extra grease on bearing work the seal around the outer edge it will pop right in! Just be careful not to bend the framework of the seal ..the center is metal with rubber on the od and id. I would do this every year if I were you!!
