i Have an O5 Vecor Mountain i live in Newfoundland canada where there is lots of fresh snow but this machine is driving me nuts!!! i go riding with my friends with Ski doo Summits under identical conditions i`m stoping all the time and squirting dishwashing liquid on my sliders to get goin and they are laughing at me,and whats wierder is that the tracks on the two machines are identical!!! the dealer sold me a small wheel kit but it made no difference. i have always been a yamaha buyer and have never had this problem before . the RX1`S and the venture`s are the same, i can`t believe yamaha is letting thier reputation down on this thing.
I`d appreciate any advice.

I am not sure about the dishwashing but it seems that the hyfax wear down quickly to a certain point and then stay. Mine wore quickly in the first few hundred miles but since then have not changed hardly at all and I have 1000 miles. I do use ice scratchers on the trail.

i think there is aproblem with the shape of the slide rails, these machines won`t even roll ,the track is so had to turn that it doesn`t coast easily this is eating up horsepower and fuel economy

Sounds like there is a problem.....either a broken part in the suspension or a bolt came out or your track tension is way too tight.

LOOSEN THE TRACK!

Also, use graphite or (even better) hyperfax slides. Plain plastic, no matter what skid you use, melt away in no time. I can wear a pair of plastic slides, on ANY sled, down to nothing in 5 minutes. I've never had to change a pair of graphite slides EVER.

I had the same problem, put on a set of hyperfax and a set of ice scratchers to fix the problem. Also, not all ice scratchers are created equal. I bought the MPI scratchers but they don't spray 1/10th as much snow and ice as the Holz ice scratchers we just put on my Dad's Apex.

There was a post like this a while ago. Alot of peeps have wear problems in the v.m's. Only real solution is hyperfax.

You could try a pair of these I have these on my sled and in 1500 miles and counting no wear on a 2 inch 151 paddle track. Made from a tail gate cable for a GM truck cut the slip hole end so it cant catch on anything and bolt on like in the picture. The spray from these is right in front and on the edge of the track giving you the spray right where it is needed. ;)!

Have had the Yamaha graphite sliders on for a few rides now,I run no wheels at all and small ski scratchers . So far 0 Wear . And the Graphite's are way cheaper than Hyper fax.

Live in newfoundland also use to have problem with hyfax wear until i cut all the windows out in the track.I also have a set of graphite hyfax (YAMAHA) that i bought because the cheaper ones were getting worn but have not seen a need to replace them yet that was around 900 km ogo that i cut out the windows ,i also run my track a little loose.GOOD-LUCK

Just to feed the fire here, Mine will wear down to about 1/8" and pretty much stay. But the first chance I get, the track is going. I think we need to go back to all windows open and fully clipped. The rubber aginst the hyfax is a deffinate source of friction and drag.

My track is starting to wear between the clips to the point the threads are starting to show. Not a good setup!

thanks guys, i can`t find a dealer in NEWFOUNDLAND that sells HYPERFAX i can get the graphite yamaha sliders though. i think the last remark was right on the rubber between the cleets on my track is also wearing, this machine can`t roll very easily like that! i am dissapointed that a experienced company like Yamaha could have such a problem. thanks guys

cut your windows out and put extroverts on. I had same problem cutting the windows helped alot but the extroverts are well worth it and will get rid of all track tension and friction

If you don't go with extroverts, try SLP anti-wear pads. They look like a carriage bolt that goes through the window of your track. The slides ride on them. I put them on my SRX 700 that has a Predator 1.25 clipped every 3rd. No more slider wear. Friction free too, you can actually turn the track by hand. Go to the SLP website and order them...about 50 bucks for the 151.
