Does anyone know if can replace the water pump on an 06 Apex without pulling the engine?

No I had to pull the engine on my RX1 to do it. You also have to drop the oil pan because the same shaft that spins the water pump spins the oil pump. Pulling the motor is intimidating but its not horrible to actually do. I pulled mine then took it to the dealer for the actual replacement of the pump.

Unfortunately I just put this motor in, so I'm now familiar with getting them in and out. I was hoping that I could get the water pump out without going through all of that.

I'm curious about dropping the pan though. I pulled the pump off of my old engine and it looks like there is a sprocket in there that turns with the chain and the end of the shaft on the water pump has a slot in it. When I look in the opening there is a shaft with an end that looks like it will fit into the slot on the water pump shaft so it looks like everything should just slide back in.

Anyone have any input as to whether you need to pull the oil pan to change the water pump?

Bump for an old post about water pump replacement. Is the verdict the oil pan 100% has to come off? How is the end of the water pump impeller shaft connected? Impeller shaft doesn't just slide out? I have to change all my o-rings and gaskets on the water pump housing (which I am not looking forward to since engine has to be pulled!) that was not cured by pouring in some leak sealer last winter. Any help is appreciated.
