I know what you are saying about the relay rods, but in my case, during the summer maintenance I replaced the relay rods with SS ones & installed new bushings. After my last shock I never drove the machine. Again all shocks were under warranty & installed by Yamaha. These shocks were from Yamaha themselfs. I received 3 different 10.00 credits for accessories. Even though I didn't ride the machine when the last shock was installed, I sent it out to be rebuilt from CANNONDALE27. He told me he found some water in the unit. Maybe these shocks were sitting on the shelf for a long time & the seals were dried out some.Some of these Singleshot shocks have been coming to me with a dent bottom of eyelet which is from the grease zerk below it. Not sure why but it can destroy the shock by distorting the eyelet big air chamber is attached to. Suspect if the Relay rods are worn badly enough this is the cause.
