My Buddy has had nothing but problems with his 06 Rage. No matter what he has done he still bottoms this thing out on even the smallest bumps, he has installed the fat boy spring even thow he is only 170 lbs, yet it still will bottom with a bang, also this sled bangs back and forth over the small stutter bumps at lower speed, is this a common problem with this skid or do you guys think he has other issues bak there, I suggested he let his limiter strap all the way out to allow this skid to rock back and forth properly but he just ignores this Idea. any help would be appriciated, or I may just have to stop riding with him.I can't take the complaining any more!!!!

I've only bottomed mine a few times but it was some really deep bumps.
Something doesn't sound right
also this sled bangs back and forth over the small stutter bumps at lower speed
I have the same problem & I was told it is the transfer rod banging
Also told there is no cure! (total bummer)
I suggested he let his limiter strap all the way out to allow this skid to rock back and forth properly
I think that would make the sled handle bad or create a wicked push in the corners.
I shortened mine one hole. It helped the turn but didn't change the clunking sound.

BTW.. I'm 200lbs w/gear and my sled is an 07 Rage GT. if that helps you any

Maybe his shock is blown or in need of a revalve. All of the '06's needed to be revalved a little stiffer because they were valved too soft.
If your friend is only 170lbs, he doesnt need the bigboy spring.

I have an 06 Rage and had the same problem. I an a big guy, 300# so I tried the big boy spring, and it was not all that great. I took my shock out and sent it to Hy-Gear for new spring and revalve. They use a 2 stage spring setup. The first spring is set soft for great ride, and the second shorter spring is stiffer to take over on those big hits. I absolutly love this setup. It will ride like a completly different sled. They have you fill out a sheet that gives them all your info, weight, riding style and such, and then they set it up for your needs.
