When i changed my wheels out i went with 4 doo wheels for the front 4... stock yam are 5.125" diameter.. ski doo.... 5.35" diameter... i've had the same set of slides on for 3500 miles and they still look good...(larger wheel=better slide life) the bacak axle wheels i went with the yammy spoked black wheels like the 10's had... looks great!!!.. its all in personal preference.. lots of "idler wheel" talk on here... with alot of different options.
the wheels you have should be ok....
Good luck!

mr.pitstop said:Ok I got some new wheels for the suspension. The smaller idler wheels that I got for the 4 front outside are different looking than the originals but were much cheaper. I paid $25 each for the 4 of them, I had to remove a plastic bushing that was inside the bearing so it would fit but once that plastic bushing was out the wheels bolted right on perfect and appear to be the same diameter. They also have replaceable bearings. These are yamaha wheels but look somewhat different than what I had.. Should they be ok??
Also, I told them I didn't need the specific yamaha wheels with the design on them for the back. They sent me wheels that are yamaha wheels but are all black, when I got the suspension out and started to compare, they are the same wheel that is used on the top. Again its the same diameter as the original rear wheels and has a replaceable bearing. It bolts right up on the rear axle, I cant think of any reason it wouldn't be ok, it just dosn't have the gray design on the outside and the bearings are replaceable.
Are you not replacing your 2 inside wheels near the rear or does your sled not have them? Of the 9 that need replacing on mine, those 2 were by far the worse!
With the rear wheels, did you purchase a 4th one or the 4th wheel kit? Heard it is a good idea to do that as well.

Sherlock, have you noticed any cracking in the side rails, I have heard this is a possibility when adding larger size wheels?
(maybe just Polaris wheels?)
What did the Ski-Doo wheels cost you and did you just purchase Black wheels or go with red?
(thinking of going red for my 40th?)
Any pics of your set up, I'd like to see it.
Thanks

No cracking yet.... and trust me i've driven the $hit out of it... I went with solid black for the 4 front and 2 rear inner(doo wheels). there are post here on how to modify and ski-doo wheel mount (2 bolt) to your yam rails. i did not do this. and i havn't see any bad stuff yet. I have the 4th wheel kit on the rear and went with the yamaha spoked.. looks great!... actually i like them alot better than the OEM...Irv said:sherlock29 said:When i changed my wheels out i went with 4 doo wheels for the front 4... stock yam are 5.125" diameter.. ski doo.... 5.35" diameter... i've had the same set of slides on for 3500 miles and they still look good...(larger wheel=better slide life) the bacak axle wheels i went with the yammy spoked black wheels like the 10's had... looks great!!!.. its all in personal preference.. lots of "idler wheel" talk on here... with alot of different options.

now you have to remember.. do wheels come with a 6205 bearing where yammies are a 6005 (narrower).. so when you put new wheels on you NEED to locktite as the bolt is now not threading in as much...
the rear axis has 6004 bearings (same as poo) so that why i stayed with yam. for these.
I'll try and post picks tonight....

Thanks for the tips, looking forward to seeing some pics, if you can?
Edit: Sherlock, are you running a skid plate on your 40th and if so what color did you go with? I am currently chasing a white one(discontinued) but curious on how the Red looks as well?

The two inside wheels were on for less than 100 miles and both are scalped with no rubber left on them, totally useless.. I might replace them or maybe not. I ran without the inside wheels on my 05 rx-1 for 2500 miles and didn't notice any difference in slide wear...

on the snow they look alot better....
Ya as much as i liked the decals on the 40th.... these just bring it up a notch... didn't want to get into a sled wrap... so i figured these were the best bang for the buck....

That's the trouble I am having, I am between trying to keep it stock looking because of what it is (40th Anniversary model) or added accessories, mods etc like it was a regular run of the mill model
