'07 APEX FINALY LET ME DOWN...broke my driveshaft! pics !

Kinger, have you changed your drivers? I really think it might have something too do with the collar next to the outer drives.

Everyone picture is identical.

I am wondering if the colar keeps the shaft from flexing if needed then cracking and eventually failing?

well the new drive axle is in, not too terrible of a job, i would suggest anyone wanting to do this could follow the thread on changing the track on here. No big surprises, just be cautious taking the chain case apart and putting it back together.(lot's of small parts, washers and spacers)
I just have to put the skid back in, when i get a minute.
On a side not i also did the left y-pipe, the right one is ok but i can see where the clamps have cut into them so i figure it's just a matter of time for the right side.
good luck!

When my driveshaft went on my turbo RX-1. I was on a little trail on the side of a road, I burped the sled once and then grabbed the brakes... NO BRAKES!!! I held on and rode it out, the sled hit the snowbank and launched into the air, completly cleared the road and landed in the parking lot of the store across the road... WHAT A RIDE!! I hope to never do that again....

I did have extroverts installed when mine broke...

My driveshaft just gave out on me today lucky only 1.5 miles into my ride. Mine just gave out at 2100 on my 06, way too soon in my book.

Wow.. 2100 is low, I put 2400 on this season....

This should be a safty recall. Someone is going to get killed because of one of these shafts failing.
Then comes the class action lawsuit.

I agree, sad to say but this is how things work.
do you think Yamaha reads this board? Maybe they could do a recall before someone gets hurt, save them and us tons of money.

Not sure if they read the board but I bet they won't even consider a recall until someone is hurt and a lawsuit is filed.. Its sad, but its about the only way they will recall something or even help with the cost..

Broke mine this week while on a week trip, lost one day of the ride, and cost a bunch of $$ to get it back to civilization!!!

Luck I was going in a straight line......I had just turned 8100 miles!!!!!!

Anyway, what is every one going too? I do not want to replace it with a stock piece of crap, any aftermarket types to reccomend??

I have a fully clipped track and can go extrovert now.

man,u guyz have me scared.

do u think studding is adding to the problem?
how about the rtx with lower gear ratio and more torque
are they going to break with less miles?
