looking to get a phazer, it just is up to which year to get. I understand that there were some changes in '09. Is it worth the extra money (approx $1500) to go with the '09?

if its an 07 make sure the updates and recalls are done, not sure what all they changed in 09

the 09 would be worth it if all the updates where not done with the 07 and the rear hole on the Phazer tunnel is closed off on 2009(the 07 from the factory was open)

the only "Issues" 09' had left was the possibility starter bolts coming loose (the long ones that hold it together) and the grounding block, everything else way fixed. 09's also have the 3rd revision of the front skid arm/shock cam setup which is pretty beefy and I really haven't seen anyone bust or crack one.

I have almost 7000km's on my 09. Starter bolt are good, I think they where fixed before and the grounding block has not given me any problems.
My relay's have frozen once before that that was it.

The 09 has slightly different plastic around the gas tank. I think it looks a little smoother than the older models.

Didn't the 07 have a bigger fuel tank?

Yeah. I think the thickness of the tank increased to keep fumes in or something.

That's what i was thinking. but didn't turn into like almost a gallon difference? or maybe not quite that much, but it was a considerable difference.

If I remember right it was something about environmental standards.
Even with less fuel capacity I would go with the 09. What models where you looking at? If it is an 09 RTX, some of the price difference is in the shocks.
Here is a list of changes.
