This is only needed for a cold start. As for it running bad at slow speeds. Mine runs great at all speeds and I dont have the coldstart update. Never needed it. Some do though.
Please check your ECU and see if it has the -10 ECU please as I am curious. All 3 of my Phazers would not start cold as easy as yours does and I wonder if the dealer put your update ECU in at set up before delivery.
Its original ECU. I had a updated one and sold it to a member here who was having trouble starting. He was happy and I really dont need it. Maybe the tune I have in my PowerCommander has helped but even before that I never needed the update. Not saying the newer ECU doesnt help. Just I have gotten used to the prime procedure and mine has always started. Thats all.

Power Commander? Were did you get the map for that? Better performance? I have one in my Yamaha FZ1 and the Commander (plus other things) really woke the bike up.

That's what I said. Isn't it amazing that after one ride, all the little issues go away! I get on my phazer and hit the fun flipper, and all I can think about is getting the skis higher in the air! Or listening to that very cool sounding exhaust!
Have fun with it!!

You should ride a proper set up supercharged one....torque is unreal.

Ulmer Racing supplied the map. When I was playing with the Aaen exhausts I needed it. Not sure if its doing much now that I am back to stock.

Other item(S) to check include:
1. front shock mount in the track - issues with the 07's
2. roll sled up on its sides and check the engine bulkhead / frame for impact damage as they are prone to damage in this spot (i.e. under chaincase and drive shaft bearing holder

What was the problem with the front shock mount?

The linkage for the shock mount in the skid in the 07's had a tendency to break - had one which did and another that didn't.Ruggybuggy said:What was the problem with the front shock mount?

My son likes it but we did have a weird issue with the sled but not its fault.
The radiator cap was loosened by the previous owner to let it breath in the summer...needless to say it boiled over and I thought it was an overheating problem.....took to dealer he said about changing oil...he tried to but could not remove the old filter as it was on hard....but he tried to use a screw driver poked in oil filter and it ripped like a can of sardines
(note- the was a Yamaha dealer...that has since lost his dealership...I was like what...Mechanic said they YAMAHA- came in on Friday and took all Yamaha stuff....I was Like WOW)
They added radiator fluid...it over heated again...needless to say went to another dealer..about the fan.....The mechanic looked at it and said ..The Cap needs to be 3 clicks to be on ..not 2....Saved me money/....
My son drove it yesterday in deep snow and had problems on a hill as he was driving fast and not leaning enough...he will learn. On trails it was fine but temp is still warmer that I like....will add the fan....
I like the sled, but the electronic gauges will flash from time to time....Im thinking a bad connection or loose.
