Hi I have a problem with the right set up on my 08 apex ltx gt. here is what i have as of now. front coils pre-loaded by 1". limiter strap all the way out. transfer rod @ max rear spring pre-loaded for rider weight (210 lbs). O.K. so I wanted max transfer to put the power to the ground (which I still think I am NOT) but no one seems to know what else I can do. now my other problem is it is pushing in the corners which i know why because i have it set up for max transfer. my question is can I pull in the limter strap 1 hole or will it hurt transfer? I think it will but I needed to see if other riders have done this.
I do not know why yamaha has such a had time transfering power. I was going to gear up to try taking some torque away? any feed back would be great as my other sleds never had this issue 900 polaris, f7, 800 storm, xcr 800 but this my first yamaha.

Do u have any studs? This is my setup: 216 studs, 1.25 ripsaw, max transfer rod set to 3/4 transfer, limiter strap pulled in 1 notch from stock, front coils loosened right off until the springs are just about loose when u lift the front end off the ground, snow trackers extreme and the rear spring preload increased for my 210lbs.
My transfer is really good.
I did notice that when i increased the preload on the rear spring that i lost some transfer.
kinda have to sacrafice one for another. Can't have it rail and then pull wheelies in a drag.

Do you have picks/studs? Because without them its very hard not to spin regardless of set-up. It's been 3rd season with my 2008 ltx gt and I'm still trying different set-ups but one thing I do not change is the transfer rod, it is set forward (anti-catwalk) putting weight on skis. I have Ohlins clicker shocks on the front and have never touched springs from day 1 although I have reduced damping and rebound depending on conditions (decrease in trails and stiffen up on the lake in deeper snow and drifts) and Ohlins EC Mono in rear skid. Limiter strap is up 1 notch from stock.
Try control rod maxed out both ways then you know what both extremes feel like. If you want to catwalk you can actually take out control rod completely (dont recommend it). 1st year riding took alot getting used to but now I prefer the Apex's ride in trails compared to my 98 XC 700 thats almost 200 lbs lighter. Devote a 1/2 day or full day trying different set-ups and it wouldn't hurt to write down the combinations so you don't waste time. Good luck

So last weekend i decised to try the old transfer rod removal... needed to see the feeling... frankly.. i think i'm leaving it out... i personally love the front end up a bit... yes.. you definately need to to watch the throttle out of the hole in the corners, but when you are going 30mph plus it feel the same as the transfer rod at max...
so my setup on the 40th... front springs as loose as i can without spring retainers comming out at full extension.... limiter strap in stock hole.... and transfer rod out... out of the hole.... skis are 1 1/2ft in air... but when i'm flying down the trails it feels the exact same as if the rod is there.... now i'm 175lbs so i know heavier guys will have probs with this set up... but i had a few doo's before the apex's and loved the front light... so i was looking for the same here... and i think i have hit it right on... and oh ya... now i have NO more transfer rod "clunk"... i can fly thru the small chop and it dosn't sound as if the rear suspension it busting itself apart...
hope this helps..... just play with your adjustments... these things can be alot of fun when they are set to you!!!
