08 NYTRO rtx, first ride issues:bent spindle, need help!

what happens if the first guy on the bike effffs up?

It happens...atleast with bikes they have a better chance of swerving to avoid them. We do the same thing at the end of demos but try not to go quite that close. The other sled is following just outta frame in that pic.

Those FMXers both make a living doin that so chances are they are not going to screw up. If you have ever watched a crusty demons video the rider in the air is in most of them, Jason Thorne. The fmx guys are pretty crazy, they live like rockstars.

Has anyone tried to straighten out a spindle that isn't bent to bad, about 1/4 of an inch out of being straight. The picture dosen't show this that well but it's like a "C" , thought a press might be able to get the bend out. I don't know of that would stress the metal and make it prone to crack.

You're better off to pony up the cash for a new spindle. Its original strength is gone for good. You should also check out your sub-frame and a-arms. Does the left spindle look as if it has moved forward or back? Are the shocks still centered in the a-arms?

I would suggest too that you order thru Port Yamaha as they offer 16% off OEM parts and they’re good people. My new parts from Port are due here any moment - says the UPS tracking system.

Wow who dragged this one up? My current spindle is bent like the one in your pic but not as bad. I would not suggest bending one back.

Thanks phat bastard for pointing out that pro fmx riders are crazier then kids who jump sleds for fun on the weekends.
