Here are the pictures of my gauge pod, that I relocated with the stock bracket. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the mods I did to the bracket. What I did though was zip saw about a quarter inch off each side of the bracket, from the bottom two mounting holes of the gauge, all the way to the end of the bracket that is attached to the handle bar riser. Then file or bench grinder all the edges flat and smooth to make it look OEM again. Then throw a little paint on to stop the rust from starting on the new freshly cut edges. I'll see if I can get a better picture of the mods when I get the sled back from the dealer (the recalls are being done right now). Basically all this does is allow more room for the cables to fit along side the new location of the bracket and the windshield brace. If you don't run the windshield you don't have to worry about cutting the bracket. If you do want the windshield you do have to cut it, otherwise the cables won't fit through without kinking and binding up. Don't want a stuck throttle all of the sudden at WOT coming into a corner. Not a whole lot of fun, unless you like to fill your pants during your snowmobiling trips.
PS the only bad thing I've found with this location is you can't use the windshield bag that Yamaha sells if you want extra storage.

thanks for the suggestions bys .
I got another question , when i am doing the break in on my phazer if i went out every couple of days when its cold and started it for 15-20 mins would this help break in the engine so when i take it out on the snow i wont have to take it easy on it as long ?????
Thanks Peter !

I would go easy on it for 200-300 miles. Then open it up and have a bit of fun with it. Dont hold it WOT for more than a few seconds until about 500 miles. At that point you will notice the engine begin to open up and actually run stronger and better mpg. A smooth break-in is key for these 4 strokes to stretch out and run strong.

ok thanks ndc821 but i was also wondering , we have no snow here and will probally not get any for another month or so ( i hope im wrong) but say if i went out in my shed every couple of days and started my phazer and let it idle for 15-20 mins would this help with the break in of the motor and help it run strong ?? or is this just a waste of my gas ???
Thanks Peter !

I would be more inclined to say that letting the engine idle for 15-20 minutes probably wont make a difference. Also others have said that starting and stopping the engine without allowing it to completely warm up to and run at operating temperature can foul the plugs. I would say the best thing to do is pray for snow!

Sled arrived today
I must say i love the look of the White/Orange . I am going to get some pictures tomorrow in the day and we are supposed to get 15-20 cm over night so maybe some pictures in SNOWW !!
I cant wait to drive it and i have already looked at the bag with the tools , pump and manual in it . This bag did come stock between the a-arms but there was no belt in it . As for the pod i will be taking that off next week to look at it better .
Pics tomorrow !!

Mine is the same as Motoman's gauge. Did it over the summer when I was replacing my handlebars. It works out great and can still see it with my 7 year old sitting in front of me.
