I picked up an 08 RTX a week ago and had to replace the two center idler wheels on the front of the skid, they were all chewed up and letting the shock rub on the track.
I replaced them with factory Yamaha wheels. I put 200 miles on it yesterday and now they are junk. I was told the studs are tearing them up so I removed the studs and replaced the wheels again. Ive had other sleds with studs and never had an issue. Could the studs actually be chewing them up that quick?

Yes. Studs are probably to blame. But, look over to make sure the mount, rail or whatever holds the wheel isn't bent.

If you used the stock all plastic wheels, the studs will destroy them. Get a set of the newer spoked wheels with replaceable bearings. Number SMA-8FP38-01-BK.

+1 , you need rubber edged wheels if the studs are going to placed where the idlers run.

they are the new style rubber ones, one has big chunks missing and the other one is loose, it looks like the bearing spun inside the housing.

Although I don't have real experience with studs, is it possible that they are not tight enough? Two things could happen, the stud back would stick out and when under acceleration, the stud would flex in the track and allow the back to come up on an angle.
Other than that, remove the studs in the way of the wheels?
