Venture Lite
Hello all,
Thanks for help in advance.

Question…I just bought new Bergstrom's triple points for my 08 Venture Lite. Turns out, the guy who owned my sled before me put on Yamaha ski GYT-23711-00-BK ( a wide blow molded ski apparently no longer available). Obviously, my Bergstrom's skegs for the stock VL ski do not fit.

During install, I noted that my GYT skis are toast ( a whole wore thru the back of ski), so I need new skis as well.

This brings me to my question.

Should I buy new factory VL skis and put on my new Bergstrom Triple Points, or ditch the triple points and go with another combo altogether since I am starting from scratch.

I do 80% trail riding, 10% ice fishing and rest other.

Thanks!

Here are my thoughts. The stock skis just suck. Period. Put the Triple Points up for sale here.

I have a set of Slydog Trailhounds and love how they steer on the trail. Powderhounds would have been better for my occasional off-trail jaunts but I got these on a good deal. Some people have raved over Yamaha's tuner skis but they are about 6" wide so might be a compromise off trail.

What do you think of a 7" Powderhound with bergstroms skegs? I was thinking I could exchange the stock triple points for Powderhound ones...

I had a set of their Good n' Ugly on my Trailhounds and they were good for regular carbides except that one lost most of the carbide from the bar. I know a lot of people rave about the Triples. These should work as a good combo.

Thanks Mooseman.

The 8" PH's are even better but I had good luck with the 7" as well...as for the carbides, I found the Studboy Shaper Bars to be just as good as the TP's and had lots of wear.

Thanks Mooseman.

Just wondering how you made out with your ski choice?
Another point on the 7 or 8" Powder hounds, even though they are not a trail ski as such, you would find a big improvement in using those on the trail compared with the Yammie skis. Less darting, less steering effort +++ good skis all around!
