i am looking at a brand new 2009 apex ltx gt for 12,999 canadian. i was wondering what are the changes are for the year 09 to 10.is the 09 suspension good because i like to ditch bang quite a bit. i will trade the 05 rx-1 for the sled(broke my suspension twice and blew my secondary in pecies) also wondering if this would be a good sled for me
Thank you brendan

Picked up my 2009 LTX GT today, just got it home about 3 hours ago. Working on studding tomorrow.
In my opinion, I would NOT buy this sled if you intend to ditch bang alot. Rear cooler needs protection if you are studded and going to over stress it with big jumping compression. You will need additional rear cooler tunnel protection. This is much more the ultimate trail ride than it is off trail IMO.

The "GT" designation stands for groomed trail. If you are going to ditch bang this sled I don't think you will be happy. Look towards a nytro rtx.

An APEX isn't really a sled to DITCHBANG, its a lake runner and groomed trail sled...you'll probably end up having suspension issue again if you did with your '05, their not that much different, they're still built on the very same platform as the RX1, basicly all whats different is they moved the steering forward and raised the seat a few inches and changed the front suspension to the 2nd generation which have shorter front spindles...body panel change and new B 'n G.
If you wan't a APEX to do some DITCHBANGING I'd look for a RTX w/ "ProActive CK" suspension which is a suspension that will take much more abuse but not as smooth or plush as a MONO for trail riding, a MONO is fine in small to medium STUTTER bumps but when the riding get rough it tends to bottom out and get bouncy...
Another sled for your style of riding is a NYTRO RTX/SE...I haven't driven 1 for a long enough of a ride to really comment but I'm sure others will chime in and voice their opinion (s)...I'm a long haul and lake/railbed type of rider and love my MONO'S plushness!
I hope I'm not confusion or discouraging you on your discision, but by what you describe as your riding style you will not enjoy your APEX LTX "MONO" suspension to its fullness, its just not a DITCHBAGING suspension...
Here's a good deal on a Nytro XTX if you want a long track with a 121" feel... http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=

Totally agree with what everyone else has said regarding Apex and ditch banging. The trails near Arborg and eastern Manitoba are perfect for the Apex; i.e. wide and fast. If you plan on ditch banging, go for a FX Nytro or XTX.

An Apex can be made to be a capable ditch banger - but it's going to be a heavy one, and it's not going to have anything resembling a stock suspenion under it. Buying anything with a Proactive for that purpose would be a mistake as well. Evidence regarding that can be had spending some time here searching, as well as realizing the fact they are no longer being built.
IMHO, once set for your weight, the Apex w/Mono makes one great power cruiser though! The '10 that comes with factory extrovert drivers sounds like the ultimate, finally ridding the sled of problems associated with very high track tension!

There was a guy on this site called kmer, that lives near Red Lake and rides a 153" track RX-1 with a 1.25" lug track. I've ridden with him several times and he was never slower than guys with a 121" track. He might have had to work harder, but he wasn't slower.
Just my thought but if you went with a Nytro or XTX, you would probably need to install a Trail Tank or a rack to carry extra fuel as it can be a long distance between fuel stops in Manitoba. No big deal and lots of guys have done this, but something for you to think about.

Yes I agree with most here. I have a 07 Attak gt and rails have both cracked,w arm has broke twice and tranfer rod broke as well all attributed to ditch banging. But on trail theres nothing like it. By the way is that 13 k plus taxes?

You should go to Iowa and buy this sled. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=75529
It is a ditch banger, it is well cared for, and a good sled for your area. It is a lot cheaper than what you have been looking at, even with the duty at the border. I bet Nate would even be willing to meet you in Minnesota to shorten the journey.
